Welcome to the Diary of a Black Woman podcast with our Faith on the Go series,
00:00:06.717 --> 00:00:09.417
where faith meets everyday challenges.
00:00:09.737 --> 00:00:14.497
I'm your host, Connie Morris, and today we're embarking on a journey to understand
00:00:14.497 --> 00:00:21.737
one of the most pivotal moments in the Bible, the moment when deceit enters human history.
00:00:22.237 --> 00:00:28.017
This episode from our new series, Breaking the Deceit, Walking in Spiritual
00:00:28.017 --> 00:00:32.977
Vigilance, It's titled, Exploring the Deceit in Genesis 3.
00:00:33.317 --> 00:00:35.877
And we'll be focusing on the first
00:00:35.877 --> 00:00:42.897
recorded instance of deception in human history, the fall of Adam and Eve.
00:00:43.677 --> 00:00:47.897
Deception has been a tool of the enemy from the very beginning.
00:00:48.597 --> 00:00:53.937
And it remains a significant threat in our spiritual walk today.
00:00:54.517 --> 00:01:00.297
So I want to teach you today and for the next three series on how to walk in
00:01:00.297 --> 00:01:05.217
spiritual vigilance so that you will not be deceived.
00:01:05.917 --> 00:01:11.657
So if you have your Bible, you can go with me to Genesis 3. So go ahead and get ready.
00:01:12.557 --> 00:01:17.117
And so by exploring Genesis 3, we'll uncover how deceit works,
00:01:17.117 --> 00:01:22.457
how it tempts us away from God's truth, and most importantly,
00:01:22.757 --> 00:01:25.577
how we can guard ourselves against it.
00:01:25.917 --> 00:01:29.397
You know, you hear different stories how people say, when I get to heaven,
00:01:29.417 --> 00:01:31.077
I want to have a talk with Eve.
00:01:31.277 --> 00:01:36.337
And I think when you get to heaven, I think Eve might want to have a talk with
00:01:36.337 --> 00:01:39.057
you. So let's open this up in prayer.
00:01:39.337 --> 00:01:44.097
Heavenly Father, we come before you today seeking wisdom and discernment as
00:01:44.097 --> 00:01:47.757
we explore the story of deception in the Garden of Eden.
00:01:47.977 --> 00:01:52.837
We ask that you open our hearts and minds to your truth, help us to recognize
00:01:52.837 --> 00:01:59.637
deception in our own lives, and equip us with the tools to stand firm in your word.
00:01:59.797 --> 00:02:02.017
In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
00:02:02.917 --> 00:02:09.057
Genesis 3 is a familiar passage, but it holds profound truth about how easy
00:02:09.057 --> 00:02:13.717
it is to be deceived when we stray from God's word.
00:02:13.917 --> 00:02:16.457
Now, we can stray from God's written word.
00:02:16.717 --> 00:02:22.937
And when the Holy Spirit speaks to us, you know, so those different ways that we can stray.
00:02:23.157 --> 00:02:27.257
And then the chapter, this chapter introduces us to a serpent.
00:02:27.597 --> 00:02:34.177
The Bible says that he's the most cunning of all God's creatures who deceives
00:02:34.177 --> 00:02:36.837
Eve into doubting God's commands.
00:02:37.597 --> 00:02:43.297
This moment of deception sets the stage for humanity's fall and illustrates
00:02:43.297 --> 00:02:47.217
the far reaching consequences of disobedience.
00:02:48.147 --> 00:02:53.307
So as we dive into the scripture, I'll explain the subtle ways in which deceit,
00:02:53.407 --> 00:02:59.867
we call it deceit, creeps into our lives and how it disorders God's truth and
00:02:59.867 --> 00:03:03.087
the steps we can take to guard ourselves against it.
00:03:03.567 --> 00:03:07.267
So let's go to Genesis 3 verses 1 through 5.
00:03:07.487 --> 00:03:12.427
It's the serpent's deception. Now, the serpent was more cunning,
00:03:12.967 --> 00:03:18.847
more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord had made.
00:03:19.207 --> 00:03:27.507
He said to the woman, did God really say, you must not eat from any tree in the garden?
00:03:27.787 --> 00:03:30.647
How many times have that crossed your mind?
00:03:31.507 --> 00:03:37.527
Automatically God tells you to do something. And immediately that little crafty
00:03:37.527 --> 00:03:42.607
voice comes up and gets you to doubt what God has told you to do,
00:03:42.627 --> 00:03:44.787
or even what God has told you to say.
00:03:45.827 --> 00:03:50.407
And a lot of times what I would say to you is that when God says it,
00:03:50.647 --> 00:03:54.287
a lot of times we have phones with apps on it, or we have a piece of paper,
00:03:54.487 --> 00:03:59.647
go ahead and write down what God says and say, Lord, where is that in the scripture?
00:04:00.347 --> 00:04:03.327
If he gives you a scripture, write that verse down.
00:04:03.627 --> 00:04:06.567
I have what you call an app on my phone.
00:04:06.767 --> 00:04:11.307
And sometimes I'll stop and I'll write it down and he'll continue to talk to
00:04:11.307 --> 00:04:15.627
me about, if you give him your full attention, then he will begin to give you
00:04:15.627 --> 00:04:19.067
more explanation about what he wants you to do.
00:04:19.527 --> 00:04:23.027
And even if you stop and say, Lord, it right. Okay. I get this. I got it.
00:04:23.427 --> 00:04:26.787
Let me get this done. I'm at work, you know, and I'm going to finish it,
00:04:27.267 --> 00:04:30.587
write it down and then go say, Lord, I want to finish this in prayer.
00:04:30.767 --> 00:04:35.227
And God would tell you what he wants you to do, but I would say immediately write it down.
00:04:35.347 --> 00:04:38.927
And if it's something you can do right away, because usually if he's talking
00:04:38.927 --> 00:04:42.267
to you that urgently, it's probably something you need to do right away.
00:04:42.627 --> 00:04:47.367
Go ahead and do it. And then that little crafty voice doesn't have any space
00:04:47.367 --> 00:04:50.307
to get you to walk in deceit.
00:04:50.427 --> 00:04:54.907
So the first thing about breaking deceit is to do it immediately so you don't
00:04:54.907 --> 00:04:56.807
get in disobedience. Let's go.
00:04:57.167 --> 00:05:01.607
The serpent begins by sowing doubt in Eve's mind.
00:05:01.807 --> 00:05:05.827
He doesn't begin the next day. He begins immediately.
00:05:06.427 --> 00:05:10.907
Did God really say? Now, you know the voice of the Lord.
00:05:11.127 --> 00:05:15.427
You can find it in the scripture. You write it down when he speaks to you.
00:05:16.227 --> 00:05:22.547
And so right away, he starts sowing doubt in Eve's mind, twisting God's word.
00:05:22.867 --> 00:05:30.727
This is often how deceit enters our lives, through doubt and subtle manipulation of the truth.
00:05:31.547 --> 00:05:40.927
Did God really say? Deceit often starts with a question that challenges what we know to be true.
00:05:41.387 --> 00:05:46.487
The serpent doesn't outright lie at first. He plants seeds of doubt.
00:05:46.967 --> 00:05:53.567
This is the nature of deception. It can be subtle and seemly harmless,
00:05:53.567 --> 00:05:59.927
but it can lead us away from the certainty of God's truth.
00:06:00.467 --> 00:06:07.367
Ask yourself, where in your life might you be questioning what God has spoken over you?
00:06:07.667 --> 00:06:14.367
Are there areas where doubt has crept in and making you vulnerable to deception?
00:06:14.867 --> 00:06:19.547
We must stay grounded in God's word to guard against doubt.
00:06:19.907 --> 00:06:24.227
The other morning as I was, you know how you wake up in the morning and your
00:06:24.227 --> 00:06:27.867
alarm went off and you just kind of lay there just for a few minutes.
00:06:28.087 --> 00:06:31.367
And while I was laying there just for a few minutes, the Lord began to speak
00:06:31.367 --> 00:06:35.547
to me about just some things he wanted me to separate myself from.
00:06:35.627 --> 00:06:36.727
I need you to separate yourself.
00:06:36.947 --> 00:06:39.587
And it was a couple of people from these people.
00:06:39.867 --> 00:06:43.367
And in your own mind, you go, yeah, I can see why this person,
00:06:43.447 --> 00:06:47.347
but the other one, I didn't see why, why this person? I didn't ask questions.
00:06:47.507 --> 00:06:52.407
I just wrote it down in my journal and I said, okay, I got to separate from
00:06:52.407 --> 00:06:54.627
this person and definitely separate from this person.
00:06:54.827 --> 00:06:58.807
Well, this person was on my calendar to have an event.
00:06:59.067 --> 00:07:00.987
I was going to go, we were going to do something.
00:07:01.247 --> 00:07:05.967
It was on my schedule to meet with this person. So I didn't see why...
00:07:07.142 --> 00:07:11.682
Why that was a big deal, right? But at that moment, the Lord said,
00:07:12.122 --> 00:07:18.102
I need you to just, these are the two people I need you to separate from for a season.
00:07:18.702 --> 00:07:24.422
And so when you start to doubt what God says, see how quick that started to play in your head?
00:07:24.582 --> 00:07:31.062
You start to say, I don't see why that person I see. You start to analyze what God's word says to you.
00:07:31.142 --> 00:07:34.122
When you heard clearly, because he gave you boom, boom, you know,
00:07:34.202 --> 00:07:37.842
gave you what you're not supposed to do, but we're so quick.
00:07:37.842 --> 00:07:43.542
We're thinking that that's us, but that's the enemy getting you to not obey
00:07:43.542 --> 00:07:45.462
what God has told you to do.
00:07:45.802 --> 00:07:50.242
And so we need to stay grounded in God's word, his written word.
00:07:50.342 --> 00:07:55.182
And when he speaks to us through the Holy Spirit so that we can guard against
00:07:55.182 --> 00:07:59.642
doubt, because in an emergency, because we're wrapping up, God is wrapping up
00:07:59.642 --> 00:08:04.682
this, The world is getting kind of crazy and he will need us to move when he tells us to move.
00:08:05.162 --> 00:08:09.282
And so while you're sitting there playing this play in your head about why you
00:08:09.282 --> 00:08:13.282
shouldn't do something, you could end up being a statistic, right?
00:08:13.562 --> 00:08:19.242
And you could be vulnerable, open yourself up to be vulnerable to deception.
00:08:19.582 --> 00:08:24.522
The Bible says that many will be deceived. And now you can see how deception
00:08:24.522 --> 00:08:28.882
can sneak in because we think we know better when God says,
00:08:29.022 --> 00:08:34.322
just you're quiet in your bed and you're not even thinking about the day.
00:08:34.502 --> 00:08:36.462
But God is thinking about your day.
00:08:37.142 --> 00:08:41.562
He has your day already organized and he's giving you your plan.
00:08:41.822 --> 00:08:46.602
And then you have the nerve to say, well, I don't think that one.
00:08:46.702 --> 00:08:51.702
I can just do that and start to replay the plan that God has for you.
00:08:52.082 --> 00:08:57.202
And so let's not do that. When God has spoken some words to you, write it down.
00:08:57.702 --> 00:09:02.442
And if you can do it right away and then go ahead and obey.
00:09:02.782 --> 00:09:09.622
Don't be walking in disobedience. Let's go on to Genesis 3, 6, Eve's decision.
00:09:09.962 --> 00:09:14.782
When the woman saw that the fruit of, this is so good to me.
00:09:14.922 --> 00:09:20.242
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing
00:09:20.242 --> 00:09:28.362
to the eye and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.
00:09:28.542 --> 00:09:33.282
Now she got all that information from being disobedient.
00:09:33.882 --> 00:09:38.482
She thought the food was good. Of course it's going to be good. God made it.
00:09:38.682 --> 00:09:41.542
Of course it's going to look good. Why? Because God made it.
00:09:41.682 --> 00:09:44.782
Of course it's going to give you wisdom because God made it.
00:09:44.862 --> 00:09:46.682
But God said, don't touch that.
00:09:46.802 --> 00:09:50.062
So that means it's not for you at this time.
00:09:50.542 --> 00:09:56.602
How many times have we talked ourselves into something that wasn't for us at that time?
00:09:57.735 --> 00:10:01.175
And you know, when we start, oh, you know, I bought this because it was on sale,
00:10:01.335 --> 00:10:03.555
because you don't look good because I got an interview.
00:10:04.015 --> 00:10:09.495
And when God said, no, get in your closet, shop something out of your closet.
00:10:09.835 --> 00:10:12.295
I want you to save that money for something else.
00:10:13.115 --> 00:10:16.935
Oh, no, that guy ain't for you. That girl ain't for you.
00:10:17.735 --> 00:10:22.715
That job ain't for you. I know I'm using ain't, but that job is not for you.
00:10:23.515 --> 00:10:28.295
That's how we get deceived. Eve, we started talking ourself into some things.
00:10:28.435 --> 00:10:31.115
We know it looks good because God made it. Come on now.
00:10:31.315 --> 00:10:37.335
We know it's pleasing to the eye because it was created by a God who makes all things good, right?
00:10:37.595 --> 00:10:42.515
And a desirable for gaining wisdom, right? God doesn't make any junk,
00:10:42.575 --> 00:10:45.515
but she took it anyway and she ate it.
00:10:45.815 --> 00:10:48.835
So Eve's decision was influenced by what?
00:10:49.035 --> 00:10:55.775
Her desire, her physical desire for the fruit. his aesthetic appeal,
00:10:56.015 --> 00:10:58.755
and the temptation to gain wisdom.
00:10:59.115 --> 00:11:06.275
Deception often plays on our desires, making harmful things appear attractive.
00:11:07.188 --> 00:11:12.628
Come on now, how many have been in some bad relationships because that guy or
00:11:12.628 --> 00:11:17.908
that girl appeared attractive, but it was deceptive to the eyes?
00:11:18.788 --> 00:11:25.108
Or something simple, you apply for a job and you walked in and you knew that job.
00:11:25.668 --> 00:11:29.808
Something about it before you even walked in the office gave you a bad feeling,
00:11:29.808 --> 00:11:34.668
but the job looked good and you end up getting the job, but it was the worst
00:11:34.668 --> 00:11:40.588
job ever because you was not paying attention to what the Lord says.
00:11:41.408 --> 00:11:46.368
I had an interview. It was a job I saw. It was beautiful. It was something I
00:11:46.368 --> 00:11:48.028
said, oh, I can change the world with this.
00:11:48.548 --> 00:11:52.268
It's like everything about the job was something I really wanted to do.
00:11:52.508 --> 00:11:54.688
Walked right in line with my skillset.
00:11:54.948 --> 00:11:59.888
I went to the interview and I looked into the office, I was like,
00:12:00.128 --> 00:12:04.568
okay, the color, it was something off, right?
00:12:04.708 --> 00:12:09.268
So you go into a room, something was off, you know, your discernment kicks in.
00:12:09.488 --> 00:12:13.488
Sometimes we can't figure out what that discernment is. But the night before
00:12:13.488 --> 00:12:18.448
I couldn't even sleep because the Lord was telling me, Connie,
00:12:18.748 --> 00:12:21.128
this is a systemic problem.
00:12:21.388 --> 00:12:23.308
They do not want it to be fixed.
00:12:23.808 --> 00:12:26.868
This is systemic. I hear hearing that over and over the systemic problem.
00:12:27.128 --> 00:12:30.628
They don't want it to be fixed. I won't give you too much detail and you'll
00:12:30.628 --> 00:12:34.008
figure out the job, but just say, for instance, God started telling you insights
00:12:34.008 --> 00:12:35.588
about a position you apply for.
00:12:35.908 --> 00:12:39.388
And he says, this is systemic. It's not going to be fixed.
00:12:39.928 --> 00:12:45.908
And then you get there and everything that he told you, you see it right before your eyes.
00:12:46.428 --> 00:12:49.428
And so there was like many different steps. I could just say,
00:12:49.568 --> 00:12:52.308
no, I could have canceled before I got there.
00:12:52.528 --> 00:12:56.708
I could have canceled because they were late getting to the interview part because
00:12:56.708 --> 00:12:57.528
they had another meeting.
00:12:57.728 --> 00:13:00.788
That was two things I could have stepped out.
00:13:01.028 --> 00:13:03.148
Three, when they said, this is how much we're going to pay you.
00:13:03.528 --> 00:13:07.068
Three different times I could have walked out of that interview and not wasted their time.
00:13:07.308 --> 00:13:12.488
But I continued on pressing on because it was pleasing to the eye.
00:13:12.808 --> 00:13:15.048
It was desirable to gain wisdom.
00:13:15.648 --> 00:13:18.988
But then when I got home, the Lord didn't let me go. He was like,
00:13:19.088 --> 00:13:22.248
Connie, you know, this is not for you.
00:13:22.648 --> 00:13:26.088
This is not for you. And kept pressing in.
00:13:26.308 --> 00:13:32.128
And so that Saturday morning, I just end up writing a note to the person interviewed.
00:13:32.608 --> 00:13:34.968
Thank you how you write a thank you note for the interview. Well,
00:13:34.968 --> 00:13:37.728
I wrote a thank you note for the interview, but then I asked him to withdraw
00:13:37.728 --> 00:13:39.948
my name from the application process.
00:13:40.848 --> 00:13:46.468
Because God knew in the long run that job was not going to be for me.
00:13:46.468 --> 00:13:49.488
It wasn't gonna be all the things that they promised.
00:13:50.723 --> 00:13:56.103
So sometimes we just have to pay attention to what God is saying and not get
00:13:56.103 --> 00:14:00.383
so caught up by what something looks like and how much wisdom you're going to
00:14:00.383 --> 00:14:04.643
gain from it so that you don't get deceived into working.
00:14:04.923 --> 00:14:10.263
Can I say this like a Hebrew slave for something God wants to bless you with
00:14:10.263 --> 00:14:12.743
that doesn't require all that work?
00:14:12.743 --> 00:14:18.403
So they might appear attractive, but it's going to cost you like all that overtime
00:14:18.403 --> 00:14:21.663
and working hard to just maintain it.
00:14:22.523 --> 00:14:28.643
So deception is most often appeared when it appears to your desire. So watch your desires.
00:14:28.923 --> 00:14:35.123
The serpent made the forbidden fruit seem desirable and wise and life to see.
00:14:35.503 --> 00:14:40.323
Come on now, often masquerades as something good or beneficial.
00:14:40.323 --> 00:14:43.303
Beneficial or like you're going to do a beneficial thing.
00:14:43.663 --> 00:14:47.263
I just use a job. I never thought of that one. The Lord just dropped that.
00:14:47.383 --> 00:14:50.543
It keeps coming up. So I'm just going to use it as an example,
00:14:50.563 --> 00:14:55.063
but I never thought that that would be, we think it's always for girls.
00:14:55.223 --> 00:14:58.763
We always want to look cute with shoes and boots and always cute.
00:14:58.883 --> 00:15:01.923
But as you get older, the clothes don't really matter anymore.
00:15:02.123 --> 00:15:06.803
You need to use a lot of wisdom, being at the right place at the right time.
00:15:06.803 --> 00:15:09.583
But its true nature is harmful.
00:15:09.843 --> 00:15:13.803
So what looks good and beneficial can actually be harmful for you.
00:15:14.203 --> 00:15:20.043
So reflect on your desires. Are there things in your life that appears good on the surface?
00:15:20.643 --> 00:15:25.823
Come on now. Good on the surface, but can lead you away from God's will.
00:15:26.303 --> 00:15:32.623
Seek God's wisdom to discern between what is truly good and what is deceptively
00:15:32.623 --> 00:15:39.163
attractive. Things can be deceptively attractive.
00:15:39.623 --> 00:15:47.503
Why? Because Eve was full because it was pleasing to the eye.
00:15:48.589 --> 00:15:55.169
So don't get tricked up. Let's go to Genesis 3 verses 7 to 13.
00:15:56.409 --> 00:16:00.189
There's always consequences of deception. So let's read it.
00:16:00.709 --> 00:16:05.289
It said, then the eyes of both of them were open. What? Both of them?
00:16:05.569 --> 00:16:10.969
So Eve wasn't by herself in this and they realized they were naked. it.
00:16:11.049 --> 00:16:16.309
So they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
00:16:20.069 --> 00:16:25.889
So Eve, remember Eve was deceived, Adam disobeyed.
00:16:25.969 --> 00:16:32.909
So I always thought that at any time, Adam could have just knocked the fruit out of Eve's hand.
00:16:33.049 --> 00:16:36.949
I know that's something kind of violent, but you living in paradise.
00:16:37.009 --> 00:16:42.089
It's worth maybe a little finger injury to get to paradise by.
00:16:42.469 --> 00:16:52.389
And then using his authority, demand the snake to leave eaten or man to man,
00:16:52.629 --> 00:16:59.429
snatch the snake out of the tree and put his foot on his neck just for even coming into the garden.
00:16:59.769 --> 00:17:01.549
You know, just being a man thing.
00:17:02.149 --> 00:17:07.289
So after falling for the serpent's deception, Adam and Eve immediately feel
00:17:07.289 --> 00:17:12.469
shame and guilt, and their innocence was lost, and they hid from God.
00:17:12.749 --> 00:17:18.149
So they had a lot to lose. A lot of times we don't realize what we have to lose
00:17:18.149 --> 00:17:21.109
when we are disobedient from God.
00:17:21.269 --> 00:17:25.449
Now, the Holy Spirit is very persistent in keeping you safe.
00:17:26.129 --> 00:17:30.889
But sometimes when we just totally ignore the Holy Spirit, you ever notice he,
00:17:31.029 --> 00:17:33.649
I don't know what that feels like, but I haven't had that happen,
00:17:33.829 --> 00:17:36.449
that he will not keep bothering you.
00:17:36.789 --> 00:17:42.249
And then he allow you to go through these consequences. I'm quite sure Eve felt
00:17:42.249 --> 00:17:45.509
some like, no, don't do that. But Eve was persistent, right?
00:17:45.709 --> 00:17:49.769
So the consequences of deception are far reaching.
00:17:50.089 --> 00:17:57.249
What may seem like a small lie or a minor deviation from the truth can lead
00:17:57.249 --> 00:18:01.769
to feelings of guilt, shame, and a broken relationship with God.
00:18:02.029 --> 00:18:04.369
The question is, is it worth it?
00:18:05.253 --> 00:18:10.513
Think about areas in your life where deception had led to guilt or shame.
00:18:10.873 --> 00:18:14.453
How has it affected your relationship with God or others?
00:18:14.753 --> 00:18:22.413
Consider how you can seek restoration through repentance and embracing God's truth.
00:18:22.933 --> 00:18:30.613
That's what he said, the small lie or minor deviation. The small lie or minor deviation.
00:18:31.613 --> 00:18:38.653
The story of Adam and Eve's fall is a cautionary tale about the dangers of deceit.
00:18:38.933 --> 00:18:45.073
But it also provides hope. Even after their disobedience, God didn't abandon them.
00:18:45.853 --> 00:18:51.033
Though they faced consequences, he provided them with coverings and continued
00:18:51.033 --> 00:18:53.153
to work out his plan for salvation.
00:18:53.793 --> 00:19:01.313
As believers, we are called to live in truth. but that requires vigilance.
00:19:01.633 --> 00:19:07.533
Deception can come in many forms and an enemy is always looking for ways to
00:19:07.533 --> 00:19:11.313
twist God's word and lead us astray.
00:19:11.573 --> 00:19:20.453
The best defense against deceit is to know God's word intimately, even to know his voice.
00:19:20.533 --> 00:19:27.993
So when doubt or manipulation arises, we can stand firm in the truth.
00:19:28.893 --> 00:19:34.853
I love that. I just want to say that again. The best deceit is to know God's
00:19:34.853 --> 00:19:37.473
word and his voice intimately.
00:19:37.953 --> 00:19:42.793
So when doubt or manipulation arise, we can stand firm in the truth.
00:19:43.293 --> 00:19:47.493
A lot of times you can know that it's doubt or manipulation because you feel
00:19:47.493 --> 00:19:50.193
like you have to do it now. You feel rushed.
00:19:50.773 --> 00:19:54.513
When God tells you to do something, you just, you do, okay, you go,
00:19:54.513 --> 00:19:57.633
I'm going to do it. If it's good, I'm doing it.
00:19:58.293 --> 00:20:02.953
If it's bad, you know not to do anything bad. You know God's voice.
00:20:03.493 --> 00:20:07.593
Let that guy go. Let that girl go. Stop doing that. Stop doing that.
00:20:07.793 --> 00:20:12.953
Just begin to do things instantly and watch how you are blessed.
00:20:13.413 --> 00:20:15.593
Let's do this decree against deception.
00:20:16.273 --> 00:20:21.133
I decree that I am protected against the lies and subtle deceits of the enemy.
00:20:21.133 --> 00:20:28.813
I hold fast to God's truth, and I'm equipped with wisdom to discern lies from the truth.
00:20:29.153 --> 00:20:34.453
I'm going to say that again. I decree that I'm protected against the lies and
00:20:34.453 --> 00:20:36.693
subtle deceits of the enemy.
00:20:36.893 --> 00:20:44.313
I hold fast to God's truth, and I'm equipped with wisdom to discern lies from the truth.
00:20:45.412 --> 00:20:49.312
The Bible says if we ask for wisdom, he gives it to us liberally.
00:20:49.452 --> 00:20:51.552
So we're never without wisdom.
00:20:51.932 --> 00:20:56.852
So we can say, is that you, Lord? Is that truth? Then you can know that that's
00:20:56.852 --> 00:20:59.492
truth and that's wisdom and you follow wisdom.
00:20:59.852 --> 00:21:03.072
So by declaring this over your life, you're committed.
00:21:03.432 --> 00:21:11.032
You are committing to walk in the light of God's word and resist the enemy's attempt to deceive you.
00:21:11.672 --> 00:21:15.892
Let's pray. Father, we thank you for your word and the lessons we've learned
00:21:15.892 --> 00:21:17.752
from the fall of Adam and Eve.
00:21:17.952 --> 00:21:22.512
We ask for the discernment and wisdom in recognizing deceit in our lives.
00:21:22.872 --> 00:21:29.392
Help us to stand firm in your truth and guard our hearts against the enemy's lies.
00:21:29.712 --> 00:21:33.832
We seek your guidance today and we trust in your protection.
00:21:34.312 --> 00:21:36.812
In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
00:21:37.472 --> 00:21:40.972
I'd like to thank you for joining me today with Faith on the Go,
00:21:41.392 --> 00:21:43.712
the Diary of a Black Woman podcast.
00:21:44.212 --> 00:21:49.272
Hope this episode has opened your eyes to the subtle ways in which deceit can
00:21:49.272 --> 00:21:52.772
enter our lives and how we can guard ourselves against it.
00:21:53.132 --> 00:21:58.932
Stay tuned for the next episode where we'll explore God's desire for truth and
00:21:58.932 --> 00:22:03.132
his will for our lives based on 1 Timothy 2.4.
00:22:03.132 --> 00:22:10.252
So until next time, keep walking in truth and spiritual vigilance.
