Welcome to the Diary of a Black Woman podcast with your host,
00:00:16.655 --> 00:00:21.415
Connie Morris, where healing has a voice and truth is no longer silent.
00:00:21.675 --> 00:00:26.355
Father God, like Jabez, we cry out that thou would bless us indeed.
00:00:26.915 --> 00:00:32.295
Bless every woman listening beyond trauma, beyond limits, beyond what she thought
00:00:32.295 --> 00:00:35.055
was possible. Enlarge her territory.
00:00:35.535 --> 00:00:39.255
Expand her purpose. Let your hand be upon this moment.
00:00:39.575 --> 00:00:45.455
Saturate every word with oil and truth. break cycles, cancel every curse sent
00:00:45.455 --> 00:00:48.955
to silence her. This isn't just a podcast.
00:00:49.235 --> 00:00:53.495
This is holy ground. In Jesus' name, amen.
00:00:53.895 --> 00:00:57.015
Hello, and welcome to the Diary of a Black Woman podcast.
00:00:57.375 --> 00:01:04.475
I'm your host, Connie Morris, and we're continuing our Faith on the Go series. Today's title is Peace.
00:01:04.815 --> 00:01:09.175
You know that faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God,
00:01:09.335 --> 00:01:11.575
and so that's why this space was created.
00:01:11.735 --> 00:01:16.295
It's for your quiet moments, your work days, your commutes, and those in-between
00:01:16.295 --> 00:01:19.795
places where your spirit needs to be refilled.
00:01:20.195 --> 00:01:22.835
Faith on the Go is for the times when you're fighting battles,
00:01:22.835 --> 00:01:29.155
not yet won in the natural, but finished already in Christ, in the spiritual realm.
00:01:29.395 --> 00:01:33.295
It's for the ones who keep believing, keep pressing, keep walking,
00:01:33.515 --> 00:01:36.975
even when the road gets long.
00:01:37.415 --> 00:01:40.895
And let's not say narrow too. Remember, narrow is the way.
00:01:41.115 --> 00:01:45.615
So wherever you are today, settle in and let the word of God strengthen your
00:01:45.615 --> 00:01:48.115
faith as you are on earth.
00:01:48.570 --> 00:01:54.050
Day four, a mind of peace, calm in the storm.
00:01:54.430 --> 00:02:00.290
The key scriptures today is found in Matthew 4, verses 39 through 40.
00:02:00.530 --> 00:02:08.670
And it reads, he got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, peace be still.
00:02:08.950 --> 00:02:13.270
Then the wind died down and it was completely stormed.
00:02:13.450 --> 00:02:18.810
Seeing through Jesus' eyes, Peace was never something Jesus had to reach for.
00:02:18.970 --> 00:02:21.010
It was something that he carried.
00:02:21.350 --> 00:02:25.850
When others were overwhelmed, he was anchored. When fear filled the air,
00:02:26.170 --> 00:02:27.990
his spirit stayed still.
00:02:28.250 --> 00:02:33.090
One night while crossing the Sea of Galilee, a violent storm rose suddenly.
00:02:33.350 --> 00:02:37.730
The waves crashed over the boat, seasoned fishermen panicked.
00:02:37.970 --> 00:02:43.230
But where was Jesus? As chaos screamed, he slept. Mark 4, 38.
00:02:43.830 --> 00:02:48.350
Imagine it, water soaking his clothes, thunder shaking the skies,
00:02:48.730 --> 00:02:54.490
disciples shouting in terror, yet Jesus rested in the stern on a cushion.
00:02:54.770 --> 00:02:59.570
He wasn't ignoring the storm. He was demonstrating authority over it.
00:02:59.770 --> 00:03:05.090
When he woke, when they woke him crying, teacher, don't you care if we drown?
00:03:05.410 --> 00:03:09.110
He stood, spoke, and the storm bowed.
00:03:09.390 --> 00:03:14.390
Peace, be still. Three words turned chaos into calm.
00:03:14.790 --> 00:03:22.450
Then he asked them, ask them, why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith? Mark 440.
00:03:22.905 --> 00:03:28.265
Jesus was teaching them and us that peace isn't the absence of storm,
00:03:28.425 --> 00:03:30.845
it's the presence of trust.
00:03:31.085 --> 00:03:35.965
Biblical Commentary Jesus' peace flowed from his relationship with the Father.
00:03:36.225 --> 00:03:43.865
He knew who he was and whose he was. That's why anxiety couldn't find a home in his heart.
00:03:44.085 --> 00:03:49.725
He said, My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
00:03:49.885 --> 00:03:53.445
John 14, 27 The peace of Christ isn't fragile.
00:03:53.625 --> 00:03:57.845
It's not unshakable. It doesn't depend on perfect conditions,
00:03:57.845 --> 00:04:00.865
but on perfect confidence in God's sovereignty.
00:04:01.045 --> 00:04:06.585
When you carry the mind of Christ, you stop being controlled by external circumstances
00:04:06.585 --> 00:04:09.725
and start being governed by internal truth.
00:04:09.985 --> 00:04:16.785
When life feels unpredictable, your peace remains because your mind is anchored
00:04:17.080 --> 00:04:23.220
on him. Isaiah 26.3 tells us, you will keep yourself in perfect peace.
00:04:23.420 --> 00:04:29.320
Those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.
00:04:29.520 --> 00:04:33.540
Peace begins in your thought life. If your mind is scattered,
00:04:33.900 --> 00:04:35.260
your heart will be anxious.
00:04:35.560 --> 00:04:37.420
Your thoughts stay on God.
00:04:37.780 --> 00:04:43.400
Peace becomes your default setting. Ask yourself, what thoughts steal my mind the most?
00:04:43.620 --> 00:04:48.580
Have I learned to sleep through the storms like Jesus? Or do I panic at the first wave?
00:04:48.780 --> 00:04:54.560
How can I anchor my thoughts in God's promises rather than in my problems?
00:04:54.860 --> 00:05:02.820
Remember, the same Jesus who calmed the storm around the disciples now calms the storms within you.
00:05:03.100 --> 00:05:05.900
Let's walk it out like Jesus.
00:05:06.280 --> 00:05:12.420
Number one, pause before you panic. When anxiety rises, take a deep breath and
00:05:12.420 --> 00:05:17.520
whisper, peace, be still.
00:05:17.780 --> 00:05:24.000
Philippians 4, 6 through 7. Peace is not a feeling you chase. It's a person you trust.
00:05:24.320 --> 00:05:29.200
Jesus is that peace. He lives on the inside of us.
00:05:29.520 --> 00:05:35.820
Have you tried it and you become anxious and you just sit quietly and you just say, peace, be still.
00:05:36.020 --> 00:05:40.880
First time your ears aren't hearing you, right? You know, everything still seemed to be shaken.
00:05:41.080 --> 00:05:46.540
But yet, if you sit there long enough and say that more than once or twice,
00:05:46.720 --> 00:05:52.500
sometimes you say it twice and then you just sit and let the earth hear it. Let your ears hear it.
00:05:52.720 --> 00:05:59.240
And then take a couple of deep breaths and allow that peace to just reside on the inside of you.
00:05:59.841 --> 00:06:03.601
Remember, it's a person. Speak peace into your surroundings.
00:06:03.961 --> 00:06:11.781
Jesus didn't think about peace. He declared it. Use your words to shift the atmosphere. Mark 4, 39.
00:06:12.201 --> 00:06:18.041
We talk about pause before the panic and now we're saying your words can shift the atmosphere.
00:06:18.581 --> 00:06:21.841
Number three, guide your mind. Choose what you allow in.
00:06:22.201 --> 00:06:26.941
When you meditate on, what you meditate on multiplies.
00:06:27.101 --> 00:06:31.341
Keep your focus on things pure, lovely, and praiseworthy.
00:06:31.601 --> 00:06:33.121
Philippians 4.8.
00:06:33.681 --> 00:06:39.381
Most of the things that really get attention is drama, people with their drama.
00:06:39.861 --> 00:06:45.561
I'm an HOA president. As long as everything is calm, no one comes to the meeting.
00:06:45.761 --> 00:06:48.301
But let a little bit of chaos erupt.
00:06:48.661 --> 00:06:53.261
And guess what? We got a packed room because people love drama.
00:06:53.821 --> 00:07:00.601
And so allow what you choose in. Do not allow drama in, you know, do not allow drama in.
00:07:00.901 --> 00:07:04.461
Number four, stay rooted in relationship, not routine.
00:07:04.781 --> 00:07:09.561
Jesus prayed often, not as a ritual, but as a way to connect.
00:07:09.881 --> 00:07:16.081
So remember, daily time with God renews your peace, Luke 5, 16. Trust the timing of God.
00:07:16.521 --> 00:07:19.861
Even delayed answers have purpose.
00:07:20.221 --> 00:07:24.041
Peace waits well because it knows God cannot fail.
00:07:24.241 --> 00:07:27.781
You know, I'm waiting on some things to come through. I keep checking and checking.
00:07:27.921 --> 00:07:29.161
That's not helping me, is it?
00:07:29.481 --> 00:07:32.981
It's not helping me. I need to stop it and trust in God's timing.
00:07:33.181 --> 00:07:36.641
When his timing is right, things just fall like dominoes.
00:07:36.801 --> 00:07:40.721
Whenever you try to rush it, It just seemed like a wall just goes up.
00:07:40.861 --> 00:07:44.321
More and more walls go up. And so remember, trust in God's timing.
00:07:44.801 --> 00:07:49.881
Here, pause before you panic. Speak peace into your surroundings. Guard your heart.
00:07:50.551 --> 00:07:55.151
Sorry, guard your mind, but also guard your heart and stay rooted in relationship,
00:07:55.371 --> 00:07:57.991
not routine, and trust the timing of God.
00:07:58.211 --> 00:08:03.631
The reason I say that it starts out with a routine, because once you get into
00:08:03.631 --> 00:08:08.951
God's presence on a regular, you make it a regular. It becomes a relationship.
00:08:09.311 --> 00:08:11.051
So I just want to say that. Let's pray.
00:08:11.451 --> 00:08:15.711
Father, thank you for being my peace when the world feels uncertain.
00:08:15.711 --> 00:08:22.151
When storms rise, teach me to stay still in you.
00:08:22.511 --> 00:08:27.091
Calm my anxious thoughts and quiet my restless heart. Let your peace rule in
00:08:27.091 --> 00:08:30.171
my mind like an anchor that cannot be moved.
00:08:30.471 --> 00:08:37.411
Remind me that no storm lasts forever, but the word of God does. In Jesus' name, amen.
00:08:37.711 --> 00:08:43.431
I decree I have the mind of Christ. I walk in perfect peace because my mind is fixed on God's.
00:08:43.998 --> 00:08:49.258
I speak peace into chaos, calm into confusion, and faith into fear.
00:08:49.418 --> 00:08:54.058
Nor storm can shake the peace of Christ within me. Just think about this.
00:08:54.178 --> 00:08:55.438
It's a reflection question.
00:08:55.618 --> 00:09:00.118
When life feels stormy, what does peace be still look like for you today?
00:09:00.358 --> 00:09:03.398
In your thoughts, in your words, and in your reaction.
00:09:03.658 --> 00:09:07.758
It's an opportunity to understand, to put this. These reflections allow you
00:09:07.758 --> 00:09:10.158
to put the word to action right away.
00:09:10.398 --> 00:09:13.898
What does it look like? Is there something you need to say out your mouth?
00:09:13.998 --> 00:09:18.218
Peace be still. Peace be still. Calm my anxious thoughts.
00:09:18.658 --> 00:09:24.038
Calm my anxious mind. And just sit and breathe and watch God do what he does best.
00:09:24.358 --> 00:09:28.978
Remember, he is peace. He is peace. You have been listening to Faith on the
00:09:28.978 --> 00:09:32.798
Go with your host, Connie Morris, from the Diary of a Black Woman podcast.
00:09:32.918 --> 00:09:38.538
I pray this word has energized your faith and reminded you of God's promise.
00:09:38.738 --> 00:09:46.098
His word will not return void. It will accomplish what it pleases and should
00:09:46.098 --> 00:09:49.298
prosper in the thing for which it was sent.
00:09:49.498 --> 00:09:54.518
So as this time that you're having in this meditation, in this podcast,
00:09:54.798 --> 00:09:58.998
where if you put some application to it, this is not a waste of time.
00:09:59.238 --> 00:10:03.718
This is an opportunity to bring God's words to pass in your life.
00:10:03.858 --> 00:10:06.558
And this one, Philippians 1.6, I love this scripture.
00:10:06.778 --> 00:10:13.798
It says, he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
00:10:14.118 --> 00:10:17.938
Just remember, God will finish what he has started.
00:10:18.218 --> 00:10:22.138
You just need to keep believing, keep walking, and keep trusting.
00:10:22.378 --> 00:10:24.998
And I'll see you on the next episode.
00:10:25.258 --> 00:10:29.398
Thank you for listening to this episode. And before we close out,
00:10:29.558 --> 00:10:35.518
I want to speak a word of promise over you from Jeremiah 29, 11 through 14.
00:10:36.121 --> 00:10:41.421
Father God, you declared, I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper
00:10:41.421 --> 00:10:45.941
you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
00:10:46.201 --> 00:10:48.481
So today we receive that truth.
00:10:48.801 --> 00:10:52.861
You said when we call on you, you will listen. So we pray.
00:10:53.041 --> 00:10:58.361
You said that when we seek you with our hearts, you will be found. So we pursue.
00:10:58.641 --> 00:11:04.301
You said you will restore us from captivity. So we declare freedom over every
00:11:04.301 --> 00:11:08.361
place where our listeners feel stuck, silenced, or small.
00:11:08.601 --> 00:11:14.421
Thank you for always drawing near when we show up in faith. In Jesus' name, amen.
