Where is My Bride: Ep 2: Stains and Salvation: Preparing the Bride for Jesus
In Episode 2 of the "Where Is My Bride?" series, Connie Morris examines the spiritual "stains" that keep the church from being a spotless bride for Christ. Drawing on Scripture and personal stories, she explains how sin marks us, the power of Jesus' blood to cleanse, and the danger of masking sin with good works or excuses.
Connie calls listeners to confess and receive purification, to stay ready for the Bridegroom, and to rely on Jesus rather than worldly shortcuts. The episode closes with prayer, a decree of cleansing, and a preview of the next installment on wrinkles and subtle compromises.

Connie Morris, where healing has a voice and truth is no longer silent.
00:00:21.675 --> 00:00:26.355
Father God, like Jabez, we cry out that thou would bless us indeed.
00:00:26.915 --> 00:00:32.295
Bless every woman listening beyond trauma, beyond limits, beyond what she thought
00:00:32.295 --> 00:00:35.055
was possible. Enlarge her territory.
00:00:35.535 --> 00:00:39.275
Expand her purpose. Let your hand be upon this moment.
00:00:39.575 --> 00:00:45.455
Saturate every word with oil and truth. break cycles, cancel every curse sent
00:00:45.455 --> 00:00:48.935
to silence her. This isn't just a podcast.
00:00:49.155 --> 00:00:53.495
This is holy ground. In Jesus' name, amen.
00:00:53.895 --> 00:00:58.275
Welcome back to the Diary of a Black Woman podcast, episode two,
00:00:58.735 --> 00:01:01.935
aims on the dress and uncovered.
00:01:02.575 --> 00:01:06.035
I'm your host, Connie Morris, and we're continuing our series,
00:01:06.035 --> 00:01:10.215
where is my bride wow
00:01:10.215 --> 00:01:12.935
this series is just melting my heart i don't
00:01:12.935 --> 00:01:15.535
know about yours but we're not going to spend a lot
00:01:15.535 --> 00:01:19.395
of time dialoguing i just want to get right into the series so that's how we
00:01:19.395 --> 00:01:24.635
talked about the cry of the bridegroom the difference between being busy for
00:01:24.635 --> 00:01:31.495
god and actually being prepared for him i ended it with mary and martha if you
00:01:31.495 --> 00:01:33.175
get a chance to read that story,
00:01:33.335 --> 00:01:35.915
go ahead and take time out to read that story.
00:01:36.255 --> 00:01:41.735
I don't have a devotional on that one, but like you saw at the end of that episode,
00:01:42.015 --> 00:01:49.575
God kind of pricked my heart to talk about performance versus service and how the bride was not ready.
00:01:49.815 --> 00:01:52.355
I mean, we can't always be last minute.
00:01:52.695 --> 00:01:55.695
I mean, sometimes I know we always have friends who are last minute,
00:01:55.815 --> 00:01:58.375
who is always late. I'm the early friend.
00:01:58.455 --> 00:02:02.655
If you ever get to meet me, I'm the early friend. Like, hey, are you ready?
00:02:02.855 --> 00:02:05.575
And then I will always be there 15 minutes early.
00:02:05.835 --> 00:02:09.115
And it's really, if we got to be somewhere, I'm about 30 or 40 minutes early.
00:02:09.235 --> 00:02:14.275
Cause I, I have this thing about being late to anything. If I'm invited to somewhere,
00:02:14.275 --> 00:02:17.195
I want to be at least on time.
00:02:17.335 --> 00:02:22.035
And my on time is 15 minutes early. Even if I have to wait in the parking lot
00:02:22.035 --> 00:02:25.815
to the doors open, that's just, that's just me. I don't like being the second
00:02:25.815 --> 00:02:28.535
one on the buffet. I like to be the first one on the buffet.
00:02:28.875 --> 00:02:33.095
So there's different things about me, right? That you don't know, but now you know.
00:02:33.435 --> 00:02:38.915
And so if Jesus said he is coming and he's looking for his bride,
00:02:39.175 --> 00:02:45.575
we learned that last episode that even if you have a spot or wrinkle on your
00:02:45.575 --> 00:02:48.035
dress, he does not see you.
00:02:48.300 --> 00:02:52.820
Because you have an opportunity right now to prepare for his coming.
00:02:53.040 --> 00:02:57.700
And so if you're going to be last minute, you might be like the foolish and
00:02:57.700 --> 00:03:02.780
the wise versions and might get left behind because you're not ready.
00:03:02.940 --> 00:03:06.420
They are wanting so you can get ready, so you can get prepared.
00:03:06.640 --> 00:03:11.580
You ever had to prepare for a wedding, prepare for an event, a birthday party.
00:03:11.960 --> 00:03:15.840
I mean, you do not, even the people who make the cakes are not making your,
00:03:15.920 --> 00:03:19.560
the cake is not coming out the oven when you go pick up the cake.
00:03:19.780 --> 00:03:24.080
Otherwise, you'll be upset. You want that cake ready with the frosting on it,
00:03:24.340 --> 00:03:27.680
with the happy birthday or whatever slogan you want on that cake.
00:03:27.820 --> 00:03:29.620
You want that cake ready.
00:03:29.880 --> 00:03:34.200
So Jesus has said, I need you to get ready. And so we're going to cover the
00:03:34.200 --> 00:03:38.340
stains on the dress because I want Jesus to see me.
00:03:38.500 --> 00:03:43.720
I don't want him to be, I don't want to stand in front of him as his bride and
00:03:43.720 --> 00:03:47.360
he's still calling out, there is my bride.
00:03:47.620 --> 00:03:50.900
I want him to recognize it's me, honey.
00:03:51.160 --> 00:03:56.660
It's your bride. I don't have a spot or wrinkle on me. I am ready. I have my oil.
00:03:56.840 --> 00:04:00.800
I am the wise version. I'm waiting for you.
00:04:00.960 --> 00:04:06.580
So we want to understand today, how do we get if he stains out of our dress,
00:04:06.820 --> 00:04:10.980
how do we become prepared brides for Jesus? Amen.
00:04:11.380 --> 00:04:15.920
And so we talked about the last time that we had the, that the cry of the bridegroom,
00:04:16.240 --> 00:04:20.540
the difference between being busy for God and actually prepared for him.
00:04:20.680 --> 00:04:26.040
We know the people who even at our job, even at our church, that they look busy
00:04:26.040 --> 00:04:29.960
about doing stuff, but nothing seems to get done when they're on the project.
00:04:30.300 --> 00:04:33.920
You know, you ever notice that they're busy about it, but ain't nothing getting
00:04:33.920 --> 00:04:37.220
done. I'm using eight, but nothing is getting done.
00:04:37.700 --> 00:04:41.260
So today we're going to look at something that we don't usually talk about.
00:04:41.400 --> 00:04:42.760
We're talking about the stains.
00:04:43.277 --> 00:04:48.957
On the bride's dress. Now imagine this. It's your wedding day.
00:04:49.177 --> 00:04:54.717
You're walking down the aisle. All eyes are on you, but suddenly someone notices
00:04:54.717 --> 00:04:57.557
the stain. It could be coffee. It could be mud.
00:04:57.837 --> 00:05:02.337
It can be kind of a red stain from your communion because you might've did communion
00:05:02.337 --> 00:05:03.797
before you went down the aisle.
00:05:03.937 --> 00:05:06.877
Or if you want, if you're out there drinking, it could be some wine,
00:05:06.997 --> 00:05:10.617
but you know, red don't come out of that white right away. It needs to soak.
00:05:10.857 --> 00:05:15.597
And so that kind of throw you off right there. But no matter how beautiful that
00:05:15.597 --> 00:05:18.317
dress is, everyone sees that spot.
00:05:18.577 --> 00:05:22.097
If you ever wore white before and you get one little stain on that white,
00:05:22.337 --> 00:05:28.617
maybe no one sees it, but you know that that's a spot on that pretty white outfit, right?
00:05:28.837 --> 00:05:33.617
You know it's a spot. So whether everybody see it or nobody sees it,
00:05:33.857 --> 00:05:37.277
you know that you have sinned. You know what you have done.
00:05:37.557 --> 00:05:41.117
But you know that either everyone sees it or no one sees it.
00:05:41.197 --> 00:05:42.977
We already know that God sees it.
00:05:43.157 --> 00:05:48.817
So what sin does in our life, it leaves marks that can't be hidden.
00:05:49.377 --> 00:05:53.017
And just like a bride would never ignore the stain of her gown,
00:05:53.437 --> 00:05:58.897
Christ is not and will not ignore the stains of sin on his church.
00:05:59.137 --> 00:06:02.237
But here's the good news. He's already made a way.
00:06:02.357 --> 00:06:08.597
He's already made a way for every stain to be washed, cleansed, clean.
00:06:09.140 --> 00:06:14.440
To be washed white as snow. Go with me to Isaiah chapter one, verse 18.
00:06:14.660 --> 00:06:18.460
It says, come now and let us reason together, says the Lord.
00:06:18.960 --> 00:06:23.700
Though your sins are like scarlet, they should be as white as snow.
00:06:23.900 --> 00:06:28.420
Though they are red like crimson, they should be like wool.
00:06:28.820 --> 00:06:34.360
First John 1, 7 tells us, but if we walk in the light as he is in the light,
00:06:34.560 --> 00:06:39.260
we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, his son,
00:06:39.420 --> 00:06:41.880
purifies us from all sin.
00:06:42.220 --> 00:06:47.980
We see God has already made a way out so that we can walk in spotless,
00:06:48.360 --> 00:06:53.780
sinless before our Jesus, before our Yeshua, Jesus. Amen.
00:06:54.120 --> 00:06:57.140
These verses remind us of two powerful truths.
00:06:57.620 --> 00:07:02.020
First, sin stains. It marks us. it separates us.
00:07:02.360 --> 00:07:07.360
And second, the blood of Jesus cleanses us fully, completely,
00:07:07.760 --> 00:07:10.100
without exception. So here's the problem.
00:07:10.340 --> 00:07:14.000
Many of us in church don't like to admit that we have a stain.
00:07:14.240 --> 00:07:19.660
We cover them up with good works. We excuse them with, that's just how I am.
00:07:19.820 --> 00:07:22.140
We pretend they're not there.
00:07:22.320 --> 00:07:26.800
But the truth is, sin always leaves a mark.
00:07:27.180 --> 00:07:32.960
The stain of unforgiveness shows up when we can't let go when someone did to us.
00:07:33.140 --> 00:07:38.180
The stain of gossip shows up when we tear others down instead of building them up.
00:07:38.340 --> 00:07:42.160
The stain of pride shows up when we resist correction.
00:07:42.440 --> 00:07:48.360
The stain of hypocrisy shows up when our public life doesn't match our private life.
00:07:48.700 --> 00:07:54.940
Romans 3.23 says, all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
00:07:55.140 --> 00:08:00.300
That means every one of us has stains, But the hope is this.
00:08:00.460 --> 00:08:03.280
Jesus doesn't just point out the stain.
00:08:03.520 --> 00:08:05.780
He washes it away.
00:08:06.060 --> 00:08:11.360
His blood is strong enough to remove that shame that says it's permanent.
00:08:11.620 --> 00:08:17.480
And so we talked about being prepared for Jesus. If we know this,
00:08:17.760 --> 00:08:24.400
that Jesus has the power to wash away every stain, why haven't we done that?
00:08:24.620 --> 00:08:29.460
Why are some of us waiting to the last minute, right? So Christ was looking
00:08:29.460 --> 00:08:31.340
for a bride without spots.
00:08:31.700 --> 00:08:38.400
These spots are sins we tolerate, the habits we excuse, and the compromises we hide.
00:08:38.640 --> 00:08:42.600
The counterfeit church often tries to mask these things.
00:08:42.920 --> 00:08:47.100
We dress them up in good deeds or hide them behind religious activity,
00:08:47.100 --> 00:08:50.020
but the true bride doesn't cover her spots.
00:08:50.300 --> 00:08:54.540
She brings them into the light of Christ. And here's the difference.
00:08:54.900 --> 00:08:58.220
It's not about whether we sin because we all have.
00:08:58.400 --> 00:09:03.520
It's about whether we allow Jesus to cleanse us. The prepared bride says.
00:09:04.064 --> 00:09:11.764
Lord, here I am. Wash me, purify me, make me new. That's just so powerful.
00:09:12.144 --> 00:09:17.464
Purify a prepared bride. Remember we talked about being prepared, not a last minute bride.
00:09:17.784 --> 00:09:22.604
We talk about a wise bride here saying we know Jesus is coming.
00:09:22.864 --> 00:09:25.724
So let's get this stuff cleansed out.
00:09:25.984 --> 00:09:30.664
Let's not go back and wallow in it, but let's get cleansed. Let's get purified.
00:09:30.904 --> 00:09:35.764
Let's get made new so that when the groom comes, when the bridegroom,
00:09:35.904 --> 00:09:37.804
sick groom comes, we are ready.
00:09:38.044 --> 00:09:41.524
And the Galatians says, when you get ready, stay ready.
00:09:41.544 --> 00:09:47.044
So don't go back wallowing in what you've been purified from. So let's talk about it.
00:09:47.344 --> 00:09:51.824
What spots might be hidden in your life that you may need to confess to God?
00:09:52.044 --> 00:09:54.524
Do that. Do that. Don't wait last minute.
00:09:54.944 --> 00:10:01.164
Am I trying to cover up my stain with excuses or am I allowing Christ to watch me clean?
00:10:01.864 --> 00:10:06.844
Excuses is just like rubbing, taking your wedding dress, right?
00:10:07.024 --> 00:10:12.824
It's got a red stain on it, but now you have a cloth that's red or some other
00:10:12.824 --> 00:10:15.524
stain and you're rubbing that red stain with a dirty cloth.
00:10:15.704 --> 00:10:19.364
You're just making a mess of it. And you know, when we try to cover it up,
00:10:19.524 --> 00:10:22.784
excuses are making a mess out of your own sin.
00:10:23.084 --> 00:10:26.464
Instead of just giving it to God, you layer it with more lies,
00:10:26.624 --> 00:10:29.404
more excuses, and it's just making it a hot mess.
00:10:29.624 --> 00:10:31.584
Go ahead and just give it to Jesus, right?
00:10:31.964 --> 00:10:38.564
Do I truly believe his blood is powerful enough to make me completely clean? Give it a try.
00:10:38.884 --> 00:10:42.624
Give it a try. You know, I just have kind of a simple example.
00:10:42.884 --> 00:10:44.604
In Nebraska, we have hard water.
00:10:45.084 --> 00:10:51.284
And so in hard water places, you have to find different solutions that are from
00:10:51.284 --> 00:10:53.104
Michigan versus Nebraska.
00:10:53.384 --> 00:10:58.324
The same cleaning solutions that you had in Michigan will not work in Nebraska.
00:10:58.324 --> 00:11:02.484
So you got an old school way that you did it in Michigan and you try that same
00:11:02.484 --> 00:11:06.104
school method in Nebraska. It wasn't working for me.
00:11:06.304 --> 00:11:09.084
And you're buying all these different chemicals and not chemicals,
00:11:09.204 --> 00:11:12.404
but different products to clean, I will say the toilet.
00:11:12.904 --> 00:11:16.804
And on one particular day, I was watching a YouTube video about how to clean
00:11:16.804 --> 00:11:20.404
this ring around my toilet because it was really, you know, bugging me because
00:11:20.404 --> 00:11:22.444
I like everything like shiny and sparkly.
00:11:22.564 --> 00:11:26.204
And I found an old school method and I was like,
00:11:26.344 --> 00:11:32.224
oh my gosh, I've been buying all these products that promises this cleaning
00:11:32.224 --> 00:11:37.624
that will cure this, this dirty ring, but it did not do it.
00:11:37.724 --> 00:11:43.204
But this product is just one product and a simple tool, cleanse it. It didn't take all day.
00:11:43.344 --> 00:11:48.704
I didn't have to soak it overnight. It's just a matter of about 15 minutes and I was done.
00:11:48.924 --> 00:11:54.184
And so that's, that's kind of how we do it. We were trying to use the worldly method.
00:11:54.891 --> 00:11:59.631
That we used to do to clean out spiritual sin.
00:11:59.851 --> 00:12:04.411
And all God is saying is like, hey, my son Jesus died for this.
00:12:04.571 --> 00:12:06.551
My son Jesus will purify you.
00:12:06.831 --> 00:12:11.191
Can you just give him a try and see if it works? You know, just give it a try.
00:12:11.431 --> 00:12:15.111
Like I said, I've been scrubbing, buying all this product, wasting a whole lot
00:12:15.111 --> 00:12:19.171
of money, and then found out one product with a simple tool,
00:12:19.471 --> 00:12:22.131
bam, it worked. And I'm like, oh my gosh.
00:12:22.331 --> 00:12:25.111
And I was taking pictures, sending it to my kids. My kids are like,
00:12:25.191 --> 00:12:26.731
why is my mom making a big deal?
00:12:26.891 --> 00:12:32.011
Because we don't realize how much time and effort we waste trying to do things
00:12:32.011 --> 00:12:34.771
the old way. We have to go to Jesus.
00:12:35.171 --> 00:12:39.771
We must go to Jesus. We must go to Jesus. There's no shortcut.
00:12:40.191 --> 00:12:43.771
People are coming on with all these different shortcuts about how you can get
00:12:43.771 --> 00:12:46.211
to, you don't need to do this. You don't need to do that.
00:12:46.471 --> 00:12:49.371
Yes, you do. You need to go to Jesus for purification.
00:12:49.771 --> 00:12:53.411
Remember I told you, Jesus coming back for a bride without spot or wrinkle.
00:12:53.611 --> 00:12:57.691
When you have a spot or wrinkle on you, and I had this vision,
00:12:57.811 --> 00:13:00.031
he was still calling out, where's my bride?
00:13:00.211 --> 00:13:03.951
And the bride was standing there with her spot or wrinkle on.
00:13:04.031 --> 00:13:08.471
Because she did not confess her sins, Jesus couldn't see her. She couldn't see him.
00:13:08.711 --> 00:13:13.031
And so we don't want that to happen. We want you to be seen by God.
00:13:13.251 --> 00:13:18.011
And so just remind yourself that don't try to shortcut way. Go straight to Jesus.
00:13:18.311 --> 00:13:22.271
It works every single time. Let's close out and pray.
00:13:22.451 --> 00:13:28.251
Father, I come to you. We come to you honestly. We confess that we have stains
00:13:28.251 --> 00:13:32.011
we cannot remove on our own. Wash us with your blood.
00:13:32.351 --> 00:13:35.991
Wash us with the blood of Jesus. Purify our thoughts, our words,
00:13:36.151 --> 00:13:41.791
our actions, and make us white as snow and teach us to walk in the light.
00:13:42.071 --> 00:13:44.511
Free from shame, guilt, and hypocrisy.
00:13:45.096 --> 00:13:48.436
And we thank you in the name of Jesus. Amen.
00:13:48.736 --> 00:13:53.356
Let's decree. We decree that every stain of sin is washed by the blood of Jesus.
00:13:53.656 --> 00:13:57.156
We will not live in shame or hide behind excuses.
00:13:57.476 --> 00:14:03.336
Our life is being made clean, right, and ready for our bridegroom.
00:14:03.496 --> 00:14:05.696
And we will not miss him.
00:14:05.896 --> 00:14:09.116
We are the wise versions. Amen.
00:14:09.516 --> 00:14:13.596
So we thank you. I thank you for joining me on the Diary of Black Women podcast.
00:14:13.596 --> 00:14:18.556
This was episode two of our series, Where Is My Bride?
00:14:18.716 --> 00:14:23.996
Next time, we will talk about the wrinkles in the garment, the subtle compromises
00:14:23.996 --> 00:14:27.336
and neglect that weakens our walk with Christ.
00:14:27.716 --> 00:14:34.296
Remember, stains can be washed, wrinkles can be pressed out, and shame can be lifted.
00:14:34.556 --> 00:14:41.456
Until then, stay washed, stay ready, always stay ready, and keep your eyes on
00:14:41.456 --> 00:14:45.496
the bridegroom because he is coming soon.
00:14:45.736 --> 00:14:48.456
And I'll see you on the next episode.
00:14:48.776 --> 00:14:52.916
Thank you for listening to this episode. And before we close out,
00:14:53.096 --> 00:14:59.116
I want to speak a word of promise over you from Jeremiah 29, 11 through 14.
00:14:59.536 --> 00:15:04.936
Father God, you declared, I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper
00:15:04.936 --> 00:15:09.436
you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
00:15:09.636 --> 00:15:11.996
So today, we receive that truth.
00:15:12.276 --> 00:15:16.376
You said when we call on you, you will listen. So we pray.
00:15:16.576 --> 00:15:20.636
You said that when we seek you with our hearts, you will be found.
00:15:20.916 --> 00:15:25.176
So we pursue. You said you will restore us from captivity.
00:15:25.376 --> 00:15:31.856
So we declare freedom over every place where our listeners feel stuck, silenced, or small.
00:15:32.136 --> 00:15:37.936
Thank you for always drawing near when we show up and faith. In Jesus' name, amen.
00:15:38.640 --> 00:15:48.427
Music.
