Bible History Unmasked: Pt 4: Bathsheba: From Scandal to Queen Mother
In this episode, Connie Morris closes out the Bathsheba story, tracing her transformation from a painful scandal to the powerful position of queen mother. The episode covers Adonijah's final attempt to seize the throne, Solomon's wise and decisive response, and Bathsheba's lasting influence in Israel's royal line.
The episode also includes a prayer, an invitation to faith, and encouragement that God redeems and restores even the hardest parts of our past.
Faith on the Go
The Word of God in your ear. Faith in your walk. Faith in your talk. And hope for the journey ahead.
Like Jabez, many of us have carried pain, labels, and stories that try to define who we are. But pain does not get the final word. Jabez prayed, and God answered. He asked God to bless him, enlarge his territory, keep His hand upon him, and protect him from evil.
And Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God still has good plans for our lives — plans of peace, hope, and a future.

00:00:10.603 --> 00:00:14.245
Welcome to the Diary of a Black Woman podcast. I'm your host,
00:00:14.245 --> 00:00:19.926
Connie Morris, and this is Faith on the Go, where you take the word with you
00:00:20.286 --> 00:00:23.739
on your drive to work, while you're getting ready in the morning,
00:00:24.426 --> 00:00:26.876
or even in those quiet moments before prayer.
00:00:27.549 --> 00:00:33.702
Real life, real word, and real growth, all while you are on the go.
00:00:34.161 --> 00:00:40.157
Before we get into today's word, let's take a moment to center ourselves with a familiar prayer.
00:00:40.703 --> 00:00:46.659
The prayer of Jabez, oh, that you will bless me indeed and enlarge my territory.
00:00:47.181 --> 00:00:54.972
Let your hand be with me and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.
00:00:55.564 --> 00:01:00.713
Father God, we come before you this day asking that you will indeed bless us,
00:01:01.293 --> 00:01:04.805
not just with what we have, but in who we are becoming.
00:01:05.508 --> 00:01:10.265
Enlarge our territory, Lord. Expand our capacity, our mindset,
00:01:10.265 --> 00:01:12.948
and our ability to receive what you have for us.
00:01:13.564 --> 00:01:20.135
Let your hand be upon us, guiding us, covering us, and leading us in every decision we make.
00:01:20.838 --> 00:01:25.958
And Father, keep us from harm, physically, emotionally, and spiritually,
00:01:26.411 --> 00:01:29.430
that we may walk in peace and not in pain.
00:01:30.045 --> 00:01:35.420
And Lord, just as you heard Jabez when he cried out to you, hear us now.
00:01:35.955 --> 00:01:42.857
Your word says that you granted his request, and we believe that you are the same God today.
00:01:43.246 --> 00:01:47.605
So we come boldly before you, knowing that you hear us, knowing that you see
00:01:47.605 --> 00:01:52.632
us, and knowing that you respond to the prayers of your people.
00:01:53.408 --> 00:01:58.796
Have your way in this moment as we sit, listen, and receive your word.
00:01:59.213 --> 00:02:01.460
In Jesus' name, amen.
00:02:13.181 --> 00:02:18.328
Hello and welcome back to Bible History Unmasked. And today we're going to close
00:02:18.328 --> 00:02:19.932
out the Bathsheba story.
00:02:20.193 --> 00:02:23.113
Not in scandal, not in shame, but in power.
00:02:23.485 --> 00:02:30.056
Bathsheba became a powerful woman. She became what we call the Queen Mother.
00:02:30.271 --> 00:02:35.814
So today's title is Bathsheba, the Queen Mother and the Fall of Anonijah.
00:02:36.105 --> 00:02:40.365
We had to add him in there because he was a threat to the throne.
00:02:40.737 --> 00:02:47.163
And as a mom, I want to show you how she responded, how Bathsheba responded, you know?
00:02:47.482 --> 00:02:53.189
And so today we understand that they gave her an identity in scripture, Bathsheba.
00:02:53.566 --> 00:02:58.022
And I can't pronounce the name, but it's Nagisha. And it means the mother,
00:02:58.022 --> 00:02:59.928
the queen mother of Israel.
00:03:00.253 --> 00:03:05.286
And at the moment, Andonijah, David's ambitious son from another mother,
00:03:05.524 --> 00:03:08.398
makes one final move to seize the throne.
00:03:08.520 --> 00:03:10.760
But he loses his life because of it.
00:03:11.136 --> 00:03:16.432
We heard that in the last episode that Solomon said, if you're going to behave,
00:03:16.432 --> 00:03:21.502
behave. If you're not, you're going to die. So Solomon kept his word that he
00:03:21.502 --> 00:03:23.368
wasn't going to play no more games with him.
00:03:23.646 --> 00:03:26.682
He gave him grace. He gave him mercy. But at the end of the day,
00:03:26.682 --> 00:03:31.587
it was like, okay, you're playing too many games and I have to protect my throne.
00:03:31.907 --> 00:03:37.445
So at this time in the history, Bathsheba is alive. Solomon is alive. Adonijah is alive.
00:03:37.729 --> 00:03:43.923
David is now passed on. Solomon is sitting on the throne, but the kingdom is still fragile. Why?
00:03:44.051 --> 00:03:49.653
Because Adonijah, David's older brother, had already tried to take the throne.
00:03:49.954 --> 00:03:53.246
We read that in 1 Kings 1, verse 5 to 10.
00:03:53.530 --> 00:03:58.302
And Solomon spared him saying this. He says, if he proves himself worthy,
00:03:58.407 --> 00:04:00.920
not a hair of his head will fall to the ground.
00:04:01.257 --> 00:04:08.513
That's in 1 Kings 1, 52. But Anijah ambition did not die. He just waited.
00:04:08.832 --> 00:04:12.934
Think about some of the the characteristics of his dad.
00:04:13.248 --> 00:04:17.636
They show up in his sons, both good and both bad.
00:04:17.973 --> 00:04:23.197
Let's take it back a step to find out how Anijah and Bishon didn't die.
00:04:23.493 --> 00:04:28.074
He was still plotting to take the throne. Go to 1 Kings 1.
00:04:28.859 --> 00:04:33.200
Let's read verses 1 through 4. We read it before, but I want to tell you a little
00:04:33.200 --> 00:04:37.224
bit more about it. So it says, Now King David was old and stricken in years,
00:04:37.596 --> 00:04:40.974
and they covered him with clothes, but he got no heat.
00:04:41.160 --> 00:04:46.396
Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let thou be sought for my lord the king,
00:04:46.692 --> 00:04:51.296
a young virgin, and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him,
00:04:51.586 --> 00:04:56.143
and let her lie in thy bosom, and thy lord the king may get heat.
00:04:56.480 --> 00:05:01.110
So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel and found
00:05:01.110 --> 00:05:06.023
a bishop, a bishop, a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
00:05:06.307 --> 00:05:10.230
And the damsel was very fair and cherished the king and ministered to him,
00:05:10.492 --> 00:05:13.446
but the king knew her not. So we know this is a time that,
00:05:14.034 --> 00:05:18.579
David just needed the body. He wasn't looking for any type of other relationship.
00:05:18.939 --> 00:05:23.298
But part of being an Ashaq, Ashaq was just not a random girl.
00:05:24.216 --> 00:05:27.234
She was treated as part of David's harem.
00:05:27.495 --> 00:05:32.215
King David had a harem and she was also treated as a royal concubine.
00:05:32.453 --> 00:05:35.663
So she was pretty much the property of David.
00:05:35.948 --> 00:05:40.414
And so that makes, you know, the scripture makes it clear that when you take
00:05:40.414 --> 00:05:45.534
a former king's concubine, you are actually claiming the throne.
00:05:45.534 --> 00:05:48.794
And so let's talk about this pattern that we see in the Bible.
00:05:49.376 --> 00:05:51.881
I'm not going to go to those scriptures, but maybe we should.
00:05:52.142 --> 00:05:57.750
This one's found in 2 Samuel 3, 7. Just examples of what happened when you try to take the throne.
00:05:57.999 --> 00:06:03.564
It's Ishabith that accuses Abner of trying to take Saul's throne by taking his
00:06:03.564 --> 00:06:05.318
concubines. That's one fact.
00:06:05.701 --> 00:06:09.852
The next one we see, and this is from Solomon's other brother,
00:06:10.252 --> 00:06:16.664
from Haggath, that other mother, 2 Samuel 16, 20-22, it says Absalom sleeps
00:06:16.664 --> 00:06:19.778
with David's concubine to claim queenship.
00:06:20.109 --> 00:06:25.874
And so messing with the king's concubine is instead trying to take over the
00:06:25.874 --> 00:06:28.828
kingdom because that was a boundary. That's not what you touch.
00:06:29.101 --> 00:06:33.722
So when Ananias asked for a bishop, he is not asking for romance.
00:06:33.972 --> 00:06:36.770
He is asking for royal legitimacy.
00:06:37.042 --> 00:06:39.481
He is asking for the throne.
00:06:39.794 --> 00:06:44.754
So let's go here and find out what happened to Adonijah.
00:06:45.114 --> 00:06:49.152
First Kings chapter 2, and we're going to start in verse 13 to 18.
00:06:49.413 --> 00:06:53.874
And it reads, And Adonijah, the son of Haggith, came to Bathsheba,
00:06:53.874 --> 00:06:57.401
the mother of Solomon, and she said, Come and thou peacefully.
00:06:57.673 --> 00:06:58.910
And he said, Peacefully?
00:06:59.206 --> 00:07:04.209
He said, And moreover, I have something to say unto thee. And she said, say on.
00:07:04.568 --> 00:07:07.250
Because now he's coming and saying, I got something to say to you.
00:07:07.523 --> 00:07:10.199
And she said, come to me peacefully. And he's like, what?
00:07:10.866 --> 00:07:13.885
What you want, because that right there starts to think, because,
00:07:13.885 --> 00:07:17.925
you know, mother's intuition, we start to say that, what? You just try to take
00:07:17.925 --> 00:07:21.525
the throne. You want me to come to you peacefully when you were already not
00:07:21.525 --> 00:07:22.760
peacefully in the beginning?
00:07:23.045 --> 00:07:30.075
And so let's go to verse 14. He said, Moreover, I have someone to say to thee. And she said, Say on.
00:07:30.313 --> 00:07:35.224
And he said, Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set
00:07:35.514 --> 00:07:40.145
their faces on me, that I should reign, albeit the kingdom is turned about and
00:07:40.145 --> 00:07:44.278
became my brothers, for it was his from the Lord.
00:07:44.528 --> 00:07:50.642
And now I ask one petition of thee, deny me not. And she said unto him, say on.
00:07:50.880 --> 00:07:54.914
Verse 17, and he says, speak, I pray thee unto Solomon the king,
00:07:55.181 --> 00:07:59.425
for he will not say thee nay. And he give me.
00:08:01.489 --> 00:08:06.925
Ashabashah, the Shunammite to wipe. So he's asking Bathsheba to go before the
00:08:06.925 --> 00:08:12.234
king to ask that you give the concubine to him.
00:08:12.489 --> 00:08:16.545
See, he's still slithering around doing stuff, but this is Bible.
00:08:16.545 --> 00:08:17.900
It's like a soap opera almost.
00:08:18.155 --> 00:08:24.225
And Bathsheba said, well, I will speak for thee unto the king. Think about this.
00:08:24.565 --> 00:08:28.895
You got a brother already from another mother and he's still slithering around
00:08:28.895 --> 00:08:32.168
the throne trying to figure a way to get the throne.
00:08:32.476 --> 00:08:37.880
And he's thinking that Bathsheba doesn't know the plan. He's like, okay, say on, say on.
00:08:38.171 --> 00:08:44.155
And you already know Bathsheba, if she's a patriot, she was a matriarch.
00:08:44.155 --> 00:08:46.727
She already know what this was about.
00:08:47.128 --> 00:08:50.896
But she played as cool. So Adonai approached Bathsheba and said,
00:08:50.896 --> 00:08:52.341
please ask King Solomon.
00:08:52.660 --> 00:08:58.691
He will not refuse you to give me Abishah, the Shunammai, as my wife. Why Bathsheba?
00:08:59.011 --> 00:09:01.192
Because Bathsheba is the queen mother.
00:09:01.517 --> 00:09:06.066
She has royal access, political influence, the king's ear, and the authority
00:09:06.066 --> 00:09:07.357
of the throne behind her.
00:09:07.595 --> 00:09:10.451
Adonai knows Solomon will listen to her.
00:09:10.648 --> 00:09:15.374
This is a political move, not a personal one.
00:09:15.525 --> 00:09:21.016
But Sheba responds with diplomacy. Very well, I will speak to the king for you.
00:09:21.219 --> 00:09:25.074
She does not see the danger, but Solomon will.
00:09:25.306 --> 00:09:28.696
And I thought she saw it, but apparently it looks like she didn't,
00:09:28.696 --> 00:09:30.490
but I think she did. She knew something was up.
00:09:30.792 --> 00:09:34.246
She didn't say yes right away. She went and spoke to Solomon.
00:09:34.623 --> 00:09:41.873
Let's go to verse 19. But she therefore went into King Solomon to speak unto him for Adonijah.
00:09:42.181 --> 00:09:47.893
The king rose up to meet her, bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne,
00:09:48.207 --> 00:09:51.277
and caused a seat to be set for the king's mother.
00:09:51.568 --> 00:09:57.066
And she sat on his right hand. And then she said, I desire one petition of thee,
00:09:57.066 --> 00:10:01.638
I pray thee, say not nay. And the king said unto her.
00:10:02.039 --> 00:10:05.208
Ask on my mother, for I will not say thee nay.
00:10:05.527 --> 00:10:12.197
And she said, Let Abishah the Shunammite be given to Adonijah, thy brother to wife.
00:10:12.488 --> 00:10:17.213
And King Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishah
00:10:17.213 --> 00:10:20.255
the Shunammite for Adonijah?
00:10:20.481 --> 00:10:25.823
Ask for him the kingdom also, for he is mine elder brother, even for him and
00:10:25.823 --> 00:10:29.061
for Abtah the priest and for Joab the son of Zerah.
00:10:29.409 --> 00:10:35.284
Then King Solomon sweared by the Lord saying, go do so to me and more also.
00:10:35.400 --> 00:10:41.785
If Ananias have not spoken this word against his own life. She went in there and she asked.
00:10:42.076 --> 00:10:45.460
And then Solomon says, are you serious, mom?
00:10:45.750 --> 00:10:52.751
How did you, why do you want to do this? And he said, he has spoken against his own life.
00:10:53.047 --> 00:10:57.910
We see here in 1 Kings 2.19 that the king rose to meet her mom.
00:10:58.288 --> 00:11:01.399
Bowed down to her, and sat down on his throne.
00:11:01.678 --> 00:11:06.409
And he had a seat brought for a king's mother, so she sat on his right hand.
00:11:06.560 --> 00:11:12.202
This is the highest honor any woman receives in the Israel monarchy. Think about that.
00:11:12.487 --> 00:11:19.998
Her story started out as being sent for, but it ends being the mother of the king.
00:11:20.231 --> 00:11:25.902
See what happens when we don't quit, when we don't give up. You never know what God has in store for us.
00:11:26.158 --> 00:11:31.143
We see here in Jeremiah 38, we got these descriptions. Say to the king and the
00:11:31.143 --> 00:11:33.954
queen mother, queen mother travels with royal authority.
00:11:34.238 --> 00:11:38.499
Queen mother can remove for idolatry. Queen mother can hold official power.
00:11:38.708 --> 00:11:46.623
So we're looking for Bathsheba, who now is not that person that David snatched
00:11:46.623 --> 00:11:51.763
up and caused her to have a child within her marriage.
00:11:52.036 --> 00:11:55.082
She's now what you call a royal matriarch.
00:11:55.506 --> 00:11:59.216
She is now seated at the right hand of the king.
00:11:59.338 --> 00:12:04.162
And so Bathsheba tells Solomon, Adonijah has asked for Abishah the Shunammite.
00:12:04.487 --> 00:12:09.485
Solomon faced changes. He sees what Bathsheba did not.
00:12:09.804 --> 00:12:14.698
And this is Solomon's response in verse 22.
00:12:14.912 --> 00:12:19.648
And King Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishah
00:12:19.648 --> 00:12:24.984
the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also. Are you giving him that?
00:12:25.257 --> 00:12:28.318
You want him to have the kingdom too? For he is my elder brother,
00:12:28.318 --> 00:12:35.747
even for him and for Athar the priest and Joab the son of Zeruah. He has not forgotten.
00:12:36.315 --> 00:12:39.968
It was like, you're going to ask for him for the king also? I mean,
00:12:39.968 --> 00:12:45.145
are you giving him the legal authority to just ask you any old thing, mom?
00:12:45.377 --> 00:12:51.896
Ananias was requesting behind Solomon's back that he would claim the throne.
00:12:52.585 --> 00:12:56.776
In verse 24, I love this. It says, And therefore, as the Lord liveth,
00:12:57.084 --> 00:13:02.108
which has established me and set me on the throne of David, my father, who has.
00:13:03.388 --> 00:13:10.017
Made me a house, as he promised, Adonijah should be put to death this day. Wow.
00:13:10.261 --> 00:13:14.661
The Lord has established me and set me on the throne of David, my father.
00:13:14.888 --> 00:13:19.265
And Ananias' request is his second rebellion.
00:13:19.520 --> 00:13:24.292
It was a challenge to God's covenant, and it was a threat to nation's stability.
00:13:24.623 --> 00:13:29.162
So Solomon must act. Let's see what happens in verse 225.
00:13:29.418 --> 00:13:35.809
And King Solomon sent by the hand of Ananias, the son of Jehoiah, and he fell upon him.
00:13:36.266 --> 00:13:42.397
And he died. Ananias died because he violated Solomon's mercy.
00:13:42.559 --> 00:13:44.422
He attempted a second coup.
00:13:44.684 --> 00:13:50.859
He used Bathsheba's influence to seize power, and he tried to claim the throne through Abishai.
00:13:51.201 --> 00:13:56.745
He challenged God's chosen king. See why we love Solomon? Solomon didn't play around anymore.
00:13:57.088 --> 00:14:02.701
He gave him mercy, and then he said, no, you got to go. This is political treason,
00:14:02.904 --> 00:14:04.640
of theological rebellion.
00:14:06.110 --> 00:14:10.584
And Bathsheba's request, spoken in innocence, revealed her power.
00:14:10.880 --> 00:14:12.663
Her voice carried world authority.
00:14:13.040 --> 00:14:18.183
Her presence commanded the honor of the king, and her influence shaped the destiny of Israel.
00:14:18.526 --> 00:14:24.270
So what happened here, we see that Abinijah thought that Bathsheba didn't know,
00:14:24.770 --> 00:14:27.947
or wasn't understanding, and we see a little bit that she didn't know,
00:14:28.232 --> 00:14:33.060
but Solomon understood when he was placing that in that position.
00:14:33.060 --> 00:14:36.747
Remember, if you go back to Chronicles, God gave him wisdom.
00:14:37.049 --> 00:14:42.111
There was an incident where Solomon had to choose money or wisdom and he chose wisdom.
00:14:42.477 --> 00:14:47.870
And so that wisdom is showing up here, right here, right now in front of our eyes.
00:14:49.290 --> 00:14:52.470
We don't know a lot about what happened after Bathsheba because we know her
00:14:52.470 --> 00:14:56.303
story gave birth to Solomon and most of the stories about Solomon.
00:14:56.593 --> 00:14:59.275
We talked a lot about Bathsheba and I wanted to do that.
00:14:59.571 --> 00:15:02.930
But let's keep going. After this moment, Bathsheba, he's not,
00:15:02.930 --> 00:15:04.442
she disappears from scripture.
00:15:04.796 --> 00:15:10.102
But her legacy is unmistakable. She secured Solomon's throne in 1 Kings 1.
00:15:10.386 --> 00:15:13.759
She was honored by Solomon in 1 Kings 2.19.
00:15:14.084 --> 00:15:17.857
She sat at the king's right hand and that's 1 King of Solomon.
00:15:18.392 --> 00:15:23.890
Moved over, verse King, yep, 19, and she became a matriarch to the Davidic line.
00:15:24.145 --> 00:15:28.602
And then scripture gives us one more detail, one that reaches all the way into
00:15:28.602 --> 00:15:32.789
the New Testament. That's still in Matthew 1, 6. Don't you love a good story?
00:15:33.050 --> 00:15:37.262
She came to him and asked him for a question, and he got a little mad at his
00:15:37.262 --> 00:15:41.572
mother, but at the end of the day, he said, okay, he's dying right now. He's playing games.
00:15:41.705 --> 00:15:44.412
And we see here, and remember we talked about the genealogy,
00:15:44.412 --> 00:15:48.680
how important those And it says, And Jesse begat David the king,
00:15:48.936 --> 00:15:55.240
and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Uriah.
00:15:55.658 --> 00:16:02.022
So Bathsheba is named in the genealogy of Jesus. Her story begins in pain,
00:16:02.022 --> 00:16:05.138
but ends in power, honor, and redemption.
00:16:05.405 --> 00:16:08.655
She becomes part of the lineage of the Messiah himself.
00:16:08.760 --> 00:16:14.843
An Ethiopian tradition remembers her as Nagesha, mother of the Solomonic dynasty.
00:16:15.140 --> 00:16:21.380
The royal line that traces its heritage back to Solomon and forward into Ethiopian history.
00:16:21.595 --> 00:16:27.162
Bathsheba's last appearance in scripture is not a whisper, it is a coronation.
00:16:27.469 --> 00:16:32.554
She rises from ashes of scandal to sit at the right hand of the king,
00:16:32.845 --> 00:16:34.383
the queen's mother of Israel,
00:16:34.772 --> 00:16:39.840
the woman whose voice could shake the kingdom, and the matriarch through whom
00:16:40.101 --> 00:16:43.468
God builds a dynasty that would change the world.
00:16:43.781 --> 00:16:48.929
That she was a queen mother. Hallelujah. She did her thing.
00:16:49.248 --> 00:16:53.463
And I wanted to give her honor for doing that. Because once you read her story,
00:16:53.707 --> 00:16:58.803
it would have been too much to put in one episode and not enough to put in two.
00:16:59.070 --> 00:17:00.493
And so let's talk about her story.
00:17:01.245 --> 00:17:04.641
About the way they whitewash her when you read about her.
00:17:04.902 --> 00:17:10.633
She is often blamed for sexualized while David abuses power and softened.
00:17:10.633 --> 00:17:16.123
So we know that she was, when we read her story, if we stop at her story and
00:17:16.123 --> 00:17:20.043
what happened in 2 Samuel, we never get to see her full power,
00:17:20.043 --> 00:17:22.613
her full strength, and her full restoration.
00:17:22.920 --> 00:17:27.599
We understand that the world blames women, but the Bible exposes kings.
00:17:27.762 --> 00:17:33.520
And we now know that, I say it twice because I want you to get it in your heart,
00:17:33.851 --> 00:17:35.430
that she is a direct line.
00:17:35.645 --> 00:17:37.683
Solomon came through Bathsheba.
00:17:37.967 --> 00:17:44.253
And Bathsheba is a David and then Jesus, right? So she's in that lineage because
00:17:44.253 --> 00:17:46.318
she gave birth to Solomon.
00:17:46.626 --> 00:17:49.116
How powerful is that?
00:17:49.441 --> 00:17:53.383
And that about wraps it up for Bathsheba. I hope you enjoyed it.
00:17:53.679 --> 00:17:58.259
Our next person we're going to cover is going to be Uriah. Why not cover him?
00:17:58.602 --> 00:18:00.593
He is part of the storyline.
00:18:01.900 --> 00:18:07.833
And we're going to learn a lot about who he was and his heart and why his name
00:18:07.833 --> 00:18:11.663
is mentioned and how God won't ever let his name just die.
00:18:11.982 --> 00:18:16.395
Just because David married Bathsheba, she was the wife of Uriah.
00:18:16.707 --> 00:18:21.593
That doesn't go away. And so I'm your host, Connie Morris. And this has been
00:18:21.593 --> 00:18:23.302
the Diary of a Black Woman podcast.
00:18:23.958 --> 00:18:28.405
I'll see you on the next episode where we study, Uriah. Before we close today,
00:18:28.405 --> 00:18:32.619
I don't want to take for granted that everyone listening knows Jesus personally.
00:18:32.997 --> 00:18:37.425
If you have listened to this episode or any other episodes and felt something
00:18:37.425 --> 00:18:42.538
stirring in your heart, maybe you know about God, but you're not sure you truly know Him.
00:18:42.712 --> 00:18:46.909
Maybe you grew up in church, walked away, got hurt, became tired,
00:18:47.298 --> 00:18:49.771
and never fully surrendered your life to Jesus.
00:18:49.887 --> 00:18:52.644
I want you to know this. God loves you.
00:18:52.940 --> 00:18:59.529
He has not forgotten you. He is not waiting to shame you. He is calling you home.
00:18:59.703 --> 00:19:03.709
The Bible says in Romans 10, 9, if you declare with your mouth,
00:19:03.935 --> 00:19:11.186
Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
00:19:11.400 --> 00:19:13.821
Salvation is not about being perfect.
00:19:14.042 --> 00:19:16.927
It's about surrendering to the one who is perfect.
00:19:17.263 --> 00:19:24.665
Jesus died for your sins, rose again, and made a way for you to be forgiven, restored, and made new.
00:19:24.885 --> 00:19:28.304
So right where you are, you can pray this prayer with me.
00:19:28.461 --> 00:19:33.604
Lord Jesus, I come to you today with an open heart. I believe you are the son of God.
00:19:34.005 --> 00:19:41.312
I believe you died on the cross for my sins. And I believe that God raised you from the dead today.
00:19:41.718 --> 00:19:44.786
I confess that I need you. I repent of my sins.
00:19:45.106 --> 00:19:51.569
I ask you to forgive me, cleanse me, and make me brand new. Jesus, come into my heart.
00:19:51.882 --> 00:19:55.666
Be my Lord, my Savior, my Redeemer, and my King.
00:19:56.066 --> 00:20:01.019
I surrender my life to you. I give you my past, my present, and my future.
00:20:01.298 --> 00:20:05.222
Teach me how to walk with you. Fill me with your Holy Spirit.
00:20:05.495 --> 00:20:09.446
Lead me in truth, healing, obedience, and love.
00:20:09.766 --> 00:20:12.326
From this day forward, I belong to you.
00:20:12.706 --> 00:20:16.704
In Jesus' name, amen. If you pray that prayer from your heart,
00:20:16.861 --> 00:20:21.191
I want you to know that heaven has heard you. This is not the end.
00:20:21.517 --> 00:20:24.346
This is only the beginning of your walk with Jesus.
00:20:24.686 --> 00:20:28.413
Find a Bible-believing church, begin reading the word of God,
00:20:28.686 --> 00:20:31.757
pray daily, and ask the Holy Spirit to help you grow.
00:20:32.035 --> 00:20:36.795
God is not looking for perfection from you. He is inviting you into relationship,
00:20:37.103 --> 00:20:39.319
transformation, and eternal life.
00:20:39.511 --> 00:20:44.195
Through Jesus Christ. And remember, you are loved, you are not forgotten,
00:20:44.416 --> 00:20:46.930
and God still has a purpose for your life.
00:20:47.260 --> 00:20:50.146
Thank you for listening to the Diary of a Black Woman podcast.
00:20:50.343 --> 00:20:54.813
Until next time, keep walking in truth, faith, and freedom.
00:21:05.783 --> 00:21:08.958
Family, thank you for spending time with me today.
00:21:09.225 --> 00:21:12.889
To every woman listening who has ever felt hidden, overlooked,
00:21:12.889 --> 00:21:15.344
or pushed aside, hear me clearly.
00:21:15.623 --> 00:21:20.162
God has not forgotten you, and neither have I.
00:21:20.557 --> 00:21:25.317
Now let's go before the Lord and close this out with a word from God.
00:21:25.735 --> 00:21:30.170
Because someone out there needs this reminder today.
00:21:30.431 --> 00:21:34.425
Jeremiah 29, 11, verses 11 through 14.
00:21:34.854 --> 00:21:39.709
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you
00:21:39.709 --> 00:21:43.608
and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
00:21:43.899 --> 00:21:48.653
Then when you call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you,
00:21:48.914 --> 00:21:54.219
you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
00:21:54.219 --> 00:22:00.286
I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and bring you back from captivity.
00:22:00.716 --> 00:22:06.624
Father God, we thank you for your word, that it is true, that it is living, that it is for us.
00:22:06.775 --> 00:22:11.819
You said you know the plans you have for us, plans to prosper us and not to
00:22:11.819 --> 00:22:14.728
harm us, plans to give us hope and a future.
00:22:15.012 --> 00:22:19.319
So today we receive that, not just in our minds, but in our hearts.
00:22:19.546 --> 00:22:23.255
When we feel overlooked, remind us you still see us.
00:22:23.545 --> 00:22:28.776
When we feel forgotten, remind us you still have a plan. And when we feel hidden,
00:22:29.095 --> 00:22:31.313
remind us you are still working.
00:22:31.603 --> 00:22:34.761
Your word says that when we call on you, you will listen.
00:22:35.092 --> 00:22:38.284
So we call on you now. Hear us. Strengthen us.
00:22:38.534 --> 00:22:42.859
Guide us. Help us to seek you with our whole heart, not halfway,
00:22:43.068 --> 00:22:45.024
not sometimes, but fully.
00:22:45.320 --> 00:22:49.697
And as we seek you, let us find you in every season, in every place.
00:22:50.215 --> 00:22:55.433
Even the hidden mind. Restore what was lost, renew what feels broken,
00:22:55.747 --> 00:23:00.164
and remind us that nothing in our lives is wasted in your hand.
00:23:00.559 --> 00:23:06.758
Lord, we trust you, we believe you, and we stand on your word. In Jesus' name, amen.
00:23:07.065 --> 00:23:11.146
This is Diary of a Black Woman podcast, and I'm your host, Connie Morris,
00:23:11.413 --> 00:23:14.165
and I'll see you on the next episode.
