Breaking Deceit: Ep4: Sowing Righteousness, Reaping Truth

I'm your host, Connie Morris, and today we're diving into the final episode in our series, Breaking the Deceit, Walking in Spiritual Vigilance. This episode is called Sowing Righteousness and Reaping Truth. We'll explore the biblical principle of sowing and reaping and how the seeds we plant in our spiritual lives directly impact our walk with God. The principle of sowing and reaping. Let's start with this powerful scripture from Galatians 6, 7 through 8. Do not be deceived.

0:40 God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please the flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction. Whoever sows to please the spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. This verse is a sobering reminder that our actions have consequences. If we sow seeds of righteousness, obedience, faithfulness, and love, we will reap the blessings of God's promises. But if we sow to the flesh selfishness, sin, and deceit, we will face spiritual decay. Sowing is a daily act. Every thought, word, and deed is a seed planted in the soil of our life.

1:26 Sowing righteousness is in a world of deception. So how do you continue? Like here in Galatians 6, 7, it says, If you sow in the flesh, you reap corruption. But if you sow in the spirit, you reap eternal life. So everything that we do has a reaction, whether it's a positive or a negative. So I will say, don't get it twisted. Understanding that everything you do, you're sowing something in the flesh or you're sowing something in the spirit. And so we live in a world where rewards, shortcuts, and compromises.

2:07 But God calls us to sow seeds of righteousness even when it is hard. Hosea 10, 12 reads, sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground. For it's time to seek the Lord until he comes and showers his righteousness on you. So righteousness for yourself, reap the fruit of unfailing love and break up your unplowed ground for it's time to seek the Lord until he comes and showers his righteousness on you. It says until he comes. So it might not be automatic, folks.

2:52 Right. You seek the Lord until he comes. Hosea 10, 12. It says, So righteousness means to live in alignment with God's will. Even when it feels inconvenient, it means breaking up the hard, unplowed ground in our lives, areas where we've grown complacent or resistant to God's leading. Take a pause on that. Where have we just kind of stopped believing or just grown complacent? Like we just got stuck. We're just not going to, God hasn't answered our prayer, so we're not going to ask anymore. We're just grown complacent or lazy. We just stopped.

3:34 We stopped. We used to have a regular routine of reading our Bible. We stopped. Regular routine of praying, we stop. Going to church, we just stop. Tithing and giving offering, we just stop. We also got an excuse for it, but we have grown complacent in seeking God, seeking his righteousness, seeking his leading in things. We stop even asking him, what should we do in this? We just start running ahead of him. So what kind of seeds are you sowing in your daily life? Are they pleasing to God? Weeping the fruit of truth. When we sow seeds of righteousness, we position ourselves to reap the fruit of truth, peace, joy, and spiritual growth.

4:15 Let's look at another scripture, Galatians 6, 9. It tells us here, we just talked about complacency. Let's see what God feels about complacency. He says, let us not become weary in doing good. For at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Wow. Let us not grow weary in doing good. I remember I had this, I was at this point of growing weary. I was in the middle of like, just kind of in this area where I'm believing God for something. And I know I'm praying and I have a consistent prayer life, but I'm not getting any answers. I'm getting a lot of dreams.

4:59 I'm getting a lot of information. I remember one time I had this dream. And I remember seeing God put on a watch in my dream. It's a beautiful Rolex watch. I didn't know it was a Rolex watch until I woke up and I researched it, but it's called a rainbow Rolex watch. The watch was absolutely beautiful in my dream. And he put the watch on my wrist. And I didn't quite understand why he put that beautiful watch on my wrist and the watch when you it's a color rainbow Rolex it has all these beautiful diamonds on it it was just absolutely beautiful and it was more about God's timing like God's timing is perfect and it was more about him telling me that my timing is perfect and the more I got anxious about like want to get ahead of God or want God to move fast in certain areas.

5:55 I'll just remember this dream that I had about this watch, about how God's timing is always perfect. And I didn't grow weary. That was something that really encouraged me, that don't become weary. God has perfect timing when he wants to bring about his perfect plan for your life. But during that time, it could be long, people. It can be a long time. And, but we can grow weary. We can grow complacent. We can give up. But here in Galatians 6, 9, it says, for at the proper time. We will reap if we do not give up. So there's a point where you will not reap if you give up.

6:39 And so let's keep going. This is God's promise. If we remain faithful, we will see the fruit of our labor. It might not come immediately, but in his perfect timing, the harvest will come. I just believe that even as you continue to seek him, he gives you little crumbs along the way throughout my waiting for him to answer different prayers that were dreams that he gave me. He broke me up, singing over me in different dreams and showing me different strategies, just different things that was going on around me as I waited for him.

7:23 And so never, ever stop seeking the Lord during the wait. Yes, it can be long. Yes, it can be long. But when he gave me that watch and I said, what kind of watch is that? And I was describing it. You know, I was like, I was trying to, you know, you kind of described it. And I just got on AI because I said, this was a watch. It was this and that. And there was no other watch that was created like that. It was a Rolex watch. It was a time piece. They don't create a lot of those different watches. So it was just beautiful. It was absolutely beautiful. And I had a picture of it. I created on one of my covers of my devotional and made it a devotional about waiting for God. Each of those colors and that something just gave me a chance to just seek him for him.

8:13 I mean, it wasn't, like God doesn't give you cheap stuff. Even in your dream, he's just the king of kings and the Lord of lords. Think about that, that he gives you in your dream a priceless watch. And I just, always when I think about it, I just touch my wrist and I go like, wow, I watch is absolutely beautiful. And so how do we practice steps for sowing righteousness? Some of this we know. And so it's just going to be just a reminder, a refresher. Number one, we spend time in God's word. Your word is a lamp unto my feet and light unto my path. You should memorize that. That's the scripture for this devotional.

8:59 Psalms 119, 105. The word of God is a seed that grows righteousness in our heart. We know the word of God is a lamp. It lights us up on the inside. Why? It lights us up with truth, with hope, with faith. Live in obedience. If you love me, keep my commandments, John 14, 15. Obedience to God's will is an act of planting seeds that honor him. Obedience, speak the words of life. Tongue has a power of life and death, and those who love it will eat of its fruit. Proverbs 18, 21, words are seized, speak truth, encouragement, and love into your life and the lives of others. So watch what you say.

9:49 Watch what you say, because you'll have what you say. You will have what you say. You speak in life or you speak in death. What do you want? If you see death coming, you better stop. God is a God of life and light. And so you want to speak truth, encouragement, and love. So let's do some decrees for sowing and reaping. Let's line our hearts with God's action and God's principles. Ready? I decree that I sow seeds of righteousness and reap the fruits of truth in every area of my life. I decree that the Spirit guides my action and I reject seeds of deception and sin.

10:31 I decree that I will not grow weary in well-doing, for I will reap a harvest in God's perfect timing, in his Rolex timing. Take the time this week to evaluate the seeds you're sowing in your life. Are they leading you closer to God or pulling you away from him? Write down one area where you want to plant seeds of righteousness and commit it to prayer. Be intentional about sowing seeds that align with God's will, whether it's a kind word, active service, spend time in prayer, maybe write some decrees, you know, special time with him. Every seed matters.

11:12 And if you've been sowing a lot of seed in the flesh, it's going to take a lot of seeds in the spirit to get that balanced out. So remember that. So let's close out in prayer. Heavenly Father, thank you for teaching us the importance of sowing and reaping. Help us to plant seeds of righteousness in our thoughts, words, and actions. Keep us strength. Give us strength to persevere in doing good, even when the harvest feels far away. Thank you for your promise. Thank you for your promise that we will reap a harvest in due season in your perfect timing. In Jesus' name, amen.
