Chapter 6: Ep5: Speak Life: Unleashing the Power of Bold Decrees

0:00 What's up, Faith Warriors? Welcome back to Diary of a Black Woman podcast with our devotional series. Last time we dove deep into the incredible truth that Jesus is interceding for us. But today, oh, today, we're taking things to the next level. We're not just going to talk about faith. We're going to declare it. That's right. We're going to speak out some wonderful, powerful decrees, bold decrees of faith over our lives. Are you ready? Because when we declare God's truth, God's word, mountains move.

0:42 You ready to move some mountains? Decrees are just more than words. They are declarations that aligns our hearts and minds with God's truth. When you speak them, you're stepping into the authority and promises God has already given you. So get ready to declare victory over your life, to break through doubt and stand in boldness like never before. Let's get to it. Okay, here's the deal. Our words have power. Proverbs 18.21 tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue.

1:24 So what are you speaking over your life today? Are your words filled with doubt or faith? Because today we're flipping the script. We're going to use our words to declare God's truth, to activate our faith, and to watch God move in our lives. These degrees aren't just positive affirmations. They're grounded in the word of God. And when we speak his word, it doesn't come back empty. It accomplished what he sent it to do. So wherever you are right now, at home, in the car, at the gym.

2:08 Get ready to speak out loud with me and watch how things start to shift in your life. So let's dive into these bold decrees from Acts 9-6, a decree for seeking God's direction. Let's start with Paul's question in Acts 9-6. Lord, what would you have me to do? This decree is about seeking God's direction with a heart ready to obey. So say this with me. I decree that I will seek God's direction in every area of my life. I will ask, Lord, what would you have for me to do?

2:51 And I am ready to follow wherever he leads. I surrender my plans to his perfect will. This is a powerful shift right there. We're laying down our own agenda saying, God, take the will. James 1, 3 through 18, a decree of steadfast faith during trials. Trials aren't easy, but that's where faith is tested and refined. In James 1, we're reminded that testing of our faith produces perseverance. Repeat this after me. I decree that my faith will remain steadfast through every trial.

3:36 I will stand firm knowing that the testing of my faith produces perseverance and spiritual maturity. I trust God's wisdom to guide me through every challenge. Very good. Yes, you're not just surviving trials, you're growing stronger in them. Let's continue Habakkuk 1 and 2. Decree of expecting God's response. Let's declare that we're waiting on God with expectation, just like Habakkuk did. Speak this out with me. I decree that I will present my request to God with faith, and I will wait with expectation for his response.

4:26 I trust that God will answer in his perfect timing and I am ready to act on his guidance. Amen, right? You're not just waiting in doubt. You're waiting in faith, knowing that God's answer is on the way. Let's go to James 117. We're going to decree of trust in God's perfect gifts. I think we have five of these. Okay. This is number four. Every good and perfect gift comes from God, and today we're declaring that we trust in His timing and His provision. So repeat after me. I decree that I would trust God's unchanging nature and His perfect timing.

5:15 I believe that every good and perfect gift comes from my Heavenly Father, And I will wait with patience, knowing that he provides what I need at the right time. Very good. This is a game changer. Trusting that God has for you is good and perfect, and it will arrive right on time. And the final decree, Hebrews 4, 14 to 16, decree of approaching God with confidence. And finally, let's declare our confidence in approaching God's throne, knowing that Jesus is interceding for us. Let's say this together.

5:59 I decree that I will approach God's throne of grace with confidence, knowing that Jesus, my high priest, understands my weaknesses and intercedes on my behalf. I will bring my request to God boldly, trusting in his mercy and grace. Yes, you can walk boldly in the throne of grace because Jesus himself is interceding for you. You've got backup. So what are the practical steps? Now that you've made these powerful decrees, let's talk about how you can put them into action into your daily life.

6:44 Remember, faith isn't just about something. Faith isn't something you believe. It's something you live out. Here's how you can keep walking in this bold faith throughout the week. Number one, set time for prayer. Each day, set aside dedicated time to seek God's direction. Ask him, Lord, what would you have for me to do? And listen for his voice. Remember, it's a daily communication with God. So we heard Paul say it once, but Paul could not have accomplished what he did by saying it just once.

7:27 What is your goal today, Lord? What would you have me to do today? He's a master organizer of your day. So if you are procrastinator or you live a disorganized life, trust me, God can get your life in order. So ask, what would you have for me to do today? And just start putting line in your life into in line with what God will have you to do. Number two, practice waiting with expectation. While you wait for God's answer, don't sit idle. Stay in a position of expectation, knowing he is faithful to respond. And we know that some prayer answers come quick and some there's a little delay.

8:12 And so some there's a lot of delay, Right. And so what would you have me to do? Some things he can boom, boom, boom. You can get it done. And some might take a little bit longer, but you're still practicing your faith. You're building up those faith muscles. And so you practice waiting with expectation. Number three, take bold action. Pick one area in your life where you need to take action and faith, whether it's forgiving someone, serving in a new way, or stepping out of your comfort zone. do it this week. Growth is not in your comfort zone. I know we wish it was, but God has a way of making that comfort zone smaller and smaller. He'll squeeze you out of that comfort zone.

8:57 And so if he's already telling you to take bold action, then you better do it before he squeezed you out of that comfort zone. And so pick an area and just begin to take action by faith. It could be something simple, like maybe clean up your closet. I don't know why I said that. It could be something simple, like doing something simple, something I already told you to do, but you haven't even took any action on it already. Just begin to take a bold action and trust them. And number four, speak these decrees daily. Don't let these decrees just be a one-time thing. Speak them every day this week and watch your mindset and circumstances begin to change.

9:42 So we know, come boldly to the throne of grace. Foundational scripture is Hebrews 4, 14 to 16. Understand that our words carry immense power. When we decree God's word over our lives, we align ourselves with his truth and activate faith in ways that we can move mountains. Decrees of faith are not just spoken words. They are declarations that shape our mindset, strengthen our faith, and invite God's power to work in our lives. There's power, there's life and death in your words. So speak life. So as we speak these bold decrees, we are standing on the promises of God, declaring that his word will come to pass in our lives.

10:31 So don't hold back. Speak life, speak truth, and watch God work. So just remember these things, that your words have power. Speak boldly. And when you declare God's word, you are partnering with him to see his promises come to life in your situation. Number two, God honors his word. Isaiah 55, 11, God's word will not return void. When you decree his truth, trust that it will accomplish what it was sent to do. So knowing that, that gives you a little more boldness, right? We learned last week that Jesus intercedes for us. So, you know, Jesus always get his prayers answered and then now we know that God's word is true and so that it doesn't return void.

11:21 So when we speak his word, it will accomplish what it was sent to do. Number three, stand firm in your faith. Keep declaring God's promises even when the circumstances seem unchanged. Your faithful words are planting seeds that will bear fruit in God's timing. You know, when you don't, ever you plant a garden before, you don't see anything, you're just still watering that dirt, right? You know you planted seeds, but you're still watering that dirt. You know you planted maybe, let's say you planted some onions or tomatoes or potatoes, whatever you planted, but you don't see anything yet.

12:03 But yet you're still watering that dirt. That's how you water the word in your life. You don't see anything, but you're still speaking the word of God. You're still watering the word of God in your life, and you stand firm in your faith. Come boldly to the throne, to God's throne. Here goes some supportive scripture. Mark 11, 23 to 25, it says, truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be taken up and thrown into the sea and does not doubt in his heart, but believe that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.

12:47 The scripture encourages bold declarations of faith, believing that what we decree in alignment with God's will can and will move mountains. Job 22, 28, you will also decree a thing and it will be established for you and light will shine in your ways and on your ways. This speaks of power of our decrees aligning with God's word and trusting that they will be established. Proverbs 18, 21, the tongue has a power of life and death, and those who love it will eat up its fruit. A reminder that our words carry power, and we should boldly declare life and truth over a situation.

So as we close this out today, there's something powerful when we are speaking God's word over our lives. These decrees aren't just words. They're life-changing declarations that align your lines you with God's truth.

14:15 So as you go through your week, keep declaring these bold statements, stand firm and trust in God's timing and watch what he does. So thank you for being on this journey with me. 15:39 So the assignment for this week is to do two things. Number one is to take a deep breath and think. What are you declaring over your life today? Are you speaking faith or are you speaking doubt? It's time to flip the script and speak God's truth. So begin this week to watch your language. And so if your language has been a little off and you're starting to see kind of the fruit, remember I said you live by that fruit. So what fruit are you seeing in your life? It's probably what you've been speaking. So if you want to change the fruit of your life, change what you've been speaking over yourself.

16:21 You know, so begin to speak life. Remember the power of life and death is in your tongue, in your mouth. And we read that Proverbs 18, 21 says, the tongue has the power of life and death. And those who love it will eat its fruit. What fruit? Whatever you speak in through your tongue. It could be life or death. So that's up to you. So just be aware of that. And then around people who speak death, you want to be wary of that. Not saying you to be the voice police, but begin to notice the fruit. You don't want to be around some, you know, just pay attention, pay attention.

17:05 And then a decree challenge. This is always fun. So I challenge you to write your own decree this week. Take a verse that's speaking to you. Turn into a powerful declaration over your life. Share it. Share with me. I can't wait to hear it. I would say share, put it on your refrigerator, your freezer, put it in your Bible devotional and just depend, declare it over your life. You know, I just turned 61. And so Isaiah 61 pretty much made a decree out of the whole 61, Isaiah 61. So that's cool. Take your birth date and make a decree out of Psalms or Isaiah or Proverbs, whichever one works for you and begin to declare God's word over your life.
