2:08 All right. Hello, and welcome back to Diary of a Black Woman podcast. I'm your host, Connie Morris, and we are still trotting through the series of Faith on the Go when God wants to talk. And today we're going to dive into receiving divine revelation. No, receiving divine revelation. I think this episode is so good for those who love to know their future, love to follow prophets and hear what God is saying, because I'm one of those kind of people, right? But how many know that God wants to talk to you, that he has some divine revelation for you?

2:49 So let's go to Jeremiah 33. Verse 3, it reads, call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Come on now. He says, call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. How many of us want some things we do not know? And we don't want that from anybody. We want that from our Heavenly Father, the Holy Spirit of Jesus, right? We want somebody who can see afar off, right? But yet sometimes we get so caught up in searching through podcasts or not, I ain't hating on podcasts, but we want to hear God's voice through someone else.

3:37 But we have the God that walks in the room and wants to talk directly to you and give it to you firsthand, right? Isn't that a good thing? And so let's dive into this episode regarding receiving divine revelation. And, you know, I was one of those people and I still kind of dig around and listen to some other podcasts when, you know, when knowing that my pastor is a prophet. So sometimes I just re-listen to what he's already spoken because he's been very accurate and very connected to God in a kind of cool way. And so most of the time you have a good pastor, it's best to kind of stay focused in that one run realm.

4:22 Otherwise you get kind of tossed around through and forward and you start comparing and contrasting. And then that's what you call confusion. And so I have decided that I'm just going to focus on what my pastor is saying. And I might listen to something in the morning, but otherwise I don't try to contrast and contrarian contrast and compare because that causes confusion. But if you spend enough time with God, he will tell you those secrets that you so desire that you're searching after through people. And he wants you to focus on him. And so this series, or hopefully this July series, has helped you to kind of hone in to your giftings and to your relationship with God, because he wants to talk to you.

5:09 He wants to talk to you. So let's just keep going here. So when God wakes us up in the night, I always say in the early morning, because sometimes it's in the middle of the night for me, Sometimes it's mostly early morning, like about two, three, four, around that time for me. He wants to reveal something specific, an insight, a direction, or a deeper understanding of his plans. This moment are invitations to receive wisdom directly from him. They require a heart that is open, expected, and ready to steward what is revealed, right? So he can give it to you, but are you ready to receive it? Are you ready to receive it?

5:51 You know, like I mentioned before on other podcasts, people say, well, I heard that before. Well, if you have done anything with what you've heard, if you haven't done anything with what you've heard and you haven't mastered it. Then you're going to keep hearing it. I mentioned before that the Bible is very repetitive. And as you get to know God, he's very repetitive. He's not going to give you so much that he's not just going to talk to hear himself talk. If you're not going to do with what he's told you to do, he's going to stop telling you things. Because he's like, I need you to do the first thing. You know, as parents, you know, can I borrow the car? You know, that's when they learn how to drive. And so what we do as parents, we test them.

6:32 Can you go to the store and pick up a loaf of bread? You want and come back? You know, that's the test. Can you go put gas in a car and, you know, maybe you give them two things to do and then come back? You're testing them. Can you take the car out to the basketball game, football game, track game, whatever you send them out to do? And can you come back on time? You were just testing them. And the more you test them and they return the favor, that's the more you begin to trust them with more things to do with the car. Pretty soon they can take the car out of town and you're fine with it because they have already passed those little bitty tests. And I just believe God is the same way. He gives you these insights, this wisdom, this deeper understanding of what he wants to do.

7:21 But then he watches to see what you do with it. So just for an example for me, I would say, and there's so many for me, he just says, It was just a weird thing, I can tell you. I was walking one day, I won't make this a long podcast, and he says, he mentioned to me in secret, whisper. That means that if he was whispering, what I always say, that he was in the room. But I was walking outside. I mean, he was walking with me because he whispered to me and says, diary of a black woman. And I was like, okay, Lord, is that a book? What is that? And so throughout the walk, I'm kind of meditating on this title, thinking what type of book would this be?

8:03 What kind of chapters would this be in the book? And how would I write it and format it? Because I just finished two books and it was a lot of work writing those books. And I was like, I wasn't feeling the energy of writing another book. And so I had to figure out, okay. So I set it, I marinated on it. I call it marinated, but meditate on it. And I said, okay, Lord, I don't know what you want me to do with this. So I sat it down and, you know, time chance happened. My mom was having. God must have spoke to my mom. And my mom said, Connie, I've been reading devotionals and I think you can actually write, write some devotionals better than these. You know, your mom, right? And you, you know, God and my mom was probably talking. I said, you know what? Sure, mom, I write some, use some devotionals.

8:47 How many do you want me to write? She says, just, just write. I'll tell you going to stop. And I said, okay. So I got to 40 devotionals and she said, I think that's enough. But as I'm writing these devotionals, my mom is, this is about having, you know, what am I talking about, right? Divine revelation. And it come in little bite-sized pieces, right? First the word and then the process. And so I said, okay. And as I'm writing these for my mom, my mom is pretty much critiquing them and sometimes I get too wordy and et cetera, et cetera. So your mom is kind of like the editor-in-chief, right? So she's helping me write these devotionals. And I said, okay, mom. Okay. And then she says, Connie, I think I've had enough of devotionals.

9:29 Thank you so much. And so I had a stack of devotionals. And at the time I didn't have an iPad to put them on. So I was using a lot of ink and a lot of paper. I got them in my notebook. So when I go live, you'll see my notebooks behind me. They're in like big notebooks that I had printed them out. And lo and behold. The Lord then whispered, and now I want you to start a podcast. At the time, I didn't know. I'm listening to different podcasts, but I don't have an idea of how to start one. So I just spent some time researching, and he was helping me research. Come on now. If the Lord tells you to do something, you can trust in his wisdom to help you figure this thing out. And so I was like, I have one computer, and then I had a laptop that wasn't in use. And he said, use this laptop.

10:16 So I had a little laptop set up, I bought a table. I'm stationed now in my bedroom, which is, I got a huge bedroom and I'd set it all up. And long story short, I just set it up and I started figuring out where can I distribute the podcast on. And I didn't really do a lot of editing in my first couple of podcasts because I didn't know nothing about editing. I just wanted to get started. That's all I wanted to do because Lord told me to start. And it all started as these morning wake up calls, these walks that I was doing with the Lord and the way that he kept walking me through each and every step. And that's happened. This is not the first time he's done this. This is just how he walks and talks with me. I wrote two books the same way, a whisper and then the process.

11:01 A whisper, process of understanding the process, and then actually starting the process. So these moments of revelation are invitation to receive wisdom from him, wisdom from God on how to do something that you never ever done before. But many times people don't start because they say, I don't know how to do this. I've never done this before. Now that was good back about maybe 30 years ago, but you can turn on a YouTube video. Come on people and figure it out from there. There's so many how to do things that you can get started on about anything. So when God gives you wisdom, he will tell you the process on how to get started.

11:43 But one thing it does require, it requires you to have an open heart that's expected and ready to steward what he tells you to do. And so how did I steward what he says? So I started out with 40 devotionals. And how did I get those? By prayer and fasting. Lord would speak to me in the morning and I would steward his words and research his words out and then write it all out, just like a book, a preface, an introduction. You go to my website, Diary of a Black Woman LLC, you will get a copy of those devotionals. Find a way to create some fun covers for it. It was just fun. That was my 40 devotionals, just using some kind of AI pictures or let those drawings kind of create themselves.

12:28 Just some fun, fun times, right? And then he said, use those 40 devotionals to start your podcast. What I'm going to talk about, Lord, boom, you already got the material. 40 devotions. Devotionals with all the topics can turn into like 80 different podcasts. I mean, you can stretch them. You know how the word of God is. It can be expounded. You can make topics out of them. It was just awesome, right? But the first thing you had to do when God speaks to you is you have to have an open heart. You have to expect him to talk and then you have to steward it. And I think we missed that part about stewarding.

13:10 When God speaks to you in the morning, are you writing it down or are you taking it to memory? Because we know that Satan comes right away and snatched that word. And so you'll think, what did he say? You didn't write it down. You didn't steward it. So you forgot and you lost it. But yeah, God will give it back to you. We learned in this month that he caused Samuel twice. So I think almost three times. And then the other third time, he stood in the room so you wouldn't miss it. So if it's something urgent and you intentionally want to learn it, he's not going to let you miss it. But if you're just brushing it off, trust me, he's going to let you brush it off. And that bright idea will go to someone else, right?

13:52 But remember, these moments of revelation are invitations. Revelations are invitations to receive wisdom directly from him. So throughout the scripture, God has used quiet times to unveil his plans. Daniel, if you read the book of Daniel, Daniel had dreams. He had visions and he lived a mighty long time because he had different kings that he ruled with. That's how bad Daniel was, right? Because he started out young and he said, okay, I'm not going to eat all this food. This is not good for me. And then that part got imparted some wisdom into him then and continue throughout his life. It doesn't stop when you begin to honor God When you begin to listen, when he wants to talk and he wants to talk to you, he doesn't stop giving you revelation and wisdom.

14:46 I think a lot of people, I'm just saying many people are here getting, well, you know, Moses was 80, you know, I had Noah, I think, I don't know how old Noah was, but he was 600 or something or more, right? And so you limit your age. You limit what God can do by saying certain words, you know? You limit what God can do for you because you keep saying, I'm almost at this age. What does that mean to God? A God that lives forever. A God that created your body, right? So that's wisdom. So when you receive wisdom directly from him, you can do whatever you want. It's not limited by time. You keep working until God calls you home.

15:28 So we just talked about Daniel received dreams and vision that revealed the future. Daniel 2.19, it's all throughout Daniel. He received so many visions. He had, my gosh, Gabriel showed up for him. I believe in the Bible that Jesus showed up for him because he was always in a state of expectation. He was always in a state of prayer. He was always praying, always in a state of expectation and God was constantly, he was always available when God wanted to talk. I might, look at that, I'm going to write this down. I might do something on Daniel. Thank you, Lord, because Daniel was available for God and that's why he was able to just do what he do, saved by the lions in the fire.

16:19 Hello, people. That's what I'm talking about. Let's talk about Samuel. He was, as a boy, he was awakened in the night to hear God's call. 1 Samuel 3.10, Paul received divine revelation to guide his ministry in Galatians 1.12. We know Paul and Silas, they prayed at midnight. What happened at midnight? They were loose. So there's things that happen when God wants to talk. These examples remind us that God's revelations are not random. They are purposeful and meant to align us with his will. Remember, when you make yourself available to God, when he wants to talk, then he says he will give you unsearchable things you do not know.

17:05 That means that we as Christians don't have to run around trying to hear from different, it's okay, I ain't saying it's wrong, but you know, like I shared with you before another podcast, we run each other over trying to hear from the when a special prophet comes to the church, when you actually get the prophet. Remember talking to you at night when God wants to talk. He can tell you what they're going to tell you. However, receiving revelation requires us to be intentional. The reason we have to be intentional, and I think I have a devotional on this one, that God is intentional. God is intentional. Okay, he doesn't do nothing by mistake. It's not an accident.

17:49 He purposefully wants to talk to you at a particular time. You know that, right? And sometimes it ain't your time, but it's his time. But during that time, he says, I will tell you things you did not know. Isn't that what we want to know? What about our future? What about this? What about that? We want to know that. And he says, I'm going to tell you that. It's easy to dismiss nighttime awakenings as coincidences. But what if we approach them with faith? In the stillness, God may be offering answers to questions, information of decisions, or insights into character. Our role is to listen, reflect, and act on what he reveals.

18:33 You know, this is probably not one of our action plans, but I want to just challenge you. This is something extra. Is there something that you have on your mind that you need an answer to? Pray before you go to bed. Ask God about it. And then if he awakens you in the night, I believe you will have your answer. I remember when I said, Lord, should I quit this job? Because I do not think that, you know, me being spiritual, I don't think this is of the Lord for me to work 70 hours a week. I just don't think that's of the Lord. And I just went to bed. But, you know, I'm a little worried, a little worried, like, I just got to quit this job.

19:13 And I just, it's like kind of what I felt like this. And you might can relate to this. You go to a swimming event, but you don't really want to swim. You just want to be cute, right? But yet someone pushes you in the pool thinking it's funny. But once you're in the pool, you're already wet. And so you just stay in the pool for the rest of the event. And that's how it is with God. Once you jump into that pool of faith, there's nobody that can pull you out of it. So sometimes in our journey, we just have to just get wet in our faith and just trust God. Just like Peter stepped out on the water, he stepped out in total faith. Water was still water, but he stepped out on it and he was able to walk on it.

19:54 It, right? Just for that moment, he was able to walk on it. And we have to do that with God. We have to believe that he is a God of wisdom. He is a God that will guide us for our plans. And then if he wakes us and he has an answer, now check this out. If he wakes you and gives you the answer, do that. Whatever he says to do, do that. Just trust it. I remember he said, it's kind of so okay for you to quit. And I was like, when? When can I quit? And he said, Friday. He said, it was Monday, Monday, good day. I said, how should I quit? Because I never quit a job before. You ever been in a situation where you never quit a job before? I said, how do I quit? So I wrote up the resignation letter and I put it on the Outlook, kind of a timed Outlook where it will go off, it will get sent at a certain time.

20:41 And I was like, okay. And then I wanted to be busy at that time because I never quit a job. I've had many, many jobs, but never really quit a job. Because you know, we, we from old school, we, we don't quit. We usually like resign. Well, resigning is quitting. Right. But actually quit. I don't know. Maybe make it sound funny. Maybe I have quit job before, but not, you know, you give your two weeks notice where they work you like a Hebrew slave for those two weeks. But no, no, no, I'm not going to work. I don't have energy to work two weeks for that job. I just, I gotta go. But sometimes we just have to just do what God says, Use his wisdom. I don't know why I went on that trip. That little, that little, little John-ger. Let's go deeper. Position yourself to receive God. Revelation requires intentional preparation. Keep a journal, a Bible, a pen nearby.

21:29 When God speaks, write it down immediately. Whether it's a word, a scripture, or a sense of direction, just write it down. I have a journal on my phone and I like to keep it. Just, it could be anywhere. I just write down some word, you know, like today during offering. It was so powerful what she was saying. And I was like, wow, that was good. So just write down that word. And that's God speaking directly to you. And even in the morning, like I said, this is when God wants to talk. Usually it's in the morning. It's whenever he wants to talk. And so make sure that you steward his word by writing it down. Test what you hear. Now, every thought is from God. So it's essential to test revelation against scripture.

22:10 God, where is that in your word? God would never contradict his word. Pray for discernment and confirmation. So if you don't know your Bible well, look it up. Has he done this before? Sometimes God can do unprecedented things. And then he, like he said, he will confirm it if it's him. You know, you don't have to be confused. But if he tells you to go jump off something, I always say if it's something negative, I'd be like, no, that ain't the Lord. You know, and then I wait until, I've never done anything negative. that say it was from God. Except resign from a job. If that's negative, then hallelujah to that, right? And the third one is be obedient. God's revelation often comes with instruction, whether it's a call to action or a shift in perspective.

22:56 Obedience is the key to unlocking his promises. So it says go deeper. How do we go deeper? We position ourselves, yourselves to receive. And so we're always ready to receive from God. Number two, you test what you hear. Don't be following strange voices. God speaks from his spirit, and usually it sounds like you, right? So it's essential. It's an annoying in your heart. It's annoying. And then you always want to test it against scripture. And then if you have a little doubt, you wait, because God is very persistent. He's not going to let you walk off a bridge and do anything that's not of him. He's very patient, right? And then, like I said before, be obedient. God's revelation often comes with instructions. It does.

23:41 It's kind of a how to do this. Whether it's a call to action or a shift in perspective, obedience is key to unlocking his promises. Scriptural insight. For the Lord gives wisdom from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2.6. Revelation flows from God's wisdom and it lines with truth. I like that. Deuteronomy 29.29. I love this one. The secret things belong to the Lord, our God, but the things revealed belong to us and our children forever. So there's some things that God does keep secret, but then there's some other things that he reveals to us and our children forever.

24:26 29, 29, you're like, Lord, why does this happen? Sometimes you won't get that answer. And so don't go hang in your hat, Saying that the Lord didn't talk to me. He didn't give me that answer. You know, that's interesting because this came up today. And I had took the day off from serving, but I did attend church. And a lady said, I asked the Lord if I could take the day off. Take any time off. And he said, he didn't say anything. I said, sometime he will be quiet and let you use wisdom. And she said, then I guess I'm taking next week off. Like, wow. So sometimes God, you've been mature enough that you can actually use wisdom. And that is where God reveals what you need for our growth and purposes.

25:10 So sometimes we have to kind of grow up in areas. God doesn't tell you to get up and brush your teeth. Does he hear that every day? Brush your teeth, wash your face. Some things you do out of just pure, regular human knowledge, right? And so you don't have to ask him for those things. I've never asked him for that, you know? And she said, because sometimes we get so super spiritual about different things. And then we don't do something that doesn't really matter. And then God gives us something revelatory to do. And then we sit there and we wait forever and never do anything. So there's so many different things. We just need to use wisdom in our walk with God too. God would tell you to move and you move. But does he tell you every step of every way of every day? Sometimes he wants you, just like your mom, when you start learning how to walk as a baby.

26:02 Think about that. When you were a little child, your mom gave you 101 instructions when you went off to school. Then as you got into seventh grade, you got less and less instructions on how to go to school. When you got to high school, you got less and less. And then when you became adult, you got really not many. You probably didn't get any instruction. And that's how God treats us. He doesn't give us, he gives us instructions, but not the day by day instructions, you know, simple things go, you need to brush your teeth, you need to wash your face. Unless there's some other things that he's working with you on. You know, if you're a messy Marvin, he might be helping you help keep your house clean. You know, that might be something, but it's not going to always be that way.

26:43 At a certain point, he'd expect you to grow up and do it without him reminding you. All right, so Daniel 2.22 says, He reveals deep and hidden things. He knows what lies in darkness and light dwells in him. God, revelation often bring clarity to areas of confusion or mystery. So if you are confused, go. Jesus will help you clear it out. I always, you know, if you are a prayer, a prayer, you love to pray. If you don't, you shouldn't. God will not let you walk into, I love the Daniel and three Hebrew boys in the fire. Even though they had to get in the fire, even though Daniel had to get in the lions, in, guess who was in there with them?

27:28 You see, because he was in the room because the lions couldn't eat him. Daniel and them was in the fire, but they didn't get burned. So we got to understand that when we walk in the wisdom of God and receive divine revelation, we can't be touched. We cannot be touched. The action steps for this week or today or tonight or tomorrow, it says, number one, you want to prepare your heart. Before bed, you want to pray, Lord, I'm ready to hear from you. Reveal to me what I need to know and guide my heart to receive it. Yes, sometimes we have to ask and to have a heart to receive it because we might not be able to receive it.

28:08 What is it that you ever had a friend that you only could tell them only so much, but you can't tell them everything because they panic or they get into that kind of uproar. God knows our heart and he knows what we can receive and what we can't receive. And so you have to ask if you're one of those people, Lord, help my heart to receive it. Once again, listen and write. When you wake up, sit quietly and reflect what comes to mind. Write down anything you sense God's revealing, even if it doesn't make sense at first. And yeah, just write it all down. Because once you review it later on, maybe in a couple of weeks or after that, whoever you're dealing with passes, then you have a better understanding of what that really means.

28:56 And today I went for a quick walk before I went to church. And I was like, Lord, why am I in this situation I don't really like drama. I run from it. And this Joey thing is causing a lot of drama because people are holding on to stuff that's not really theirs. And Laura said, because I know you can handle it. I want you to clean house and then you can move on. And I said, okay. And I said, I'll do that. I'll do that. And it was a quick response. It wasn't like I had to pray and fast for it. I was just, because he was probably walking. I could say he was walking with me and he knew I was going to ask that question because he knew how much I hate drama. And I spent a lot of time writing emails and requesting things that I should not be having to request.

29:39 But he says, just take care of it. And you'll be able to move on. And you know the five, it was a story. It's called, the guy gave, it was a workman. He hired, he had three people that worked for him. He gave one worker five talents. He gave one worker three talents. And he gave one worker one talent. And so the one with the five talent knew exactly what to do with his five talents. He invested in his five talents. The one with three knew exactly what to do with his three talents. But the servant with the one talent, he wouldn't hid his one talent. And the owner was really not too happy and pleased with him.

30:20 And so I was thinking about, God has given me five different talents. We're always thinking that we want. I remember when I first heard that story about five talents, I thought, dang, I wish I had five talents. But you didn't realize the responsibility of having five talents. God expects you to do a lot with five talents. You get five days a week just like everybody else. And you have still the same amount of work to do as everybody else. But that five talents takes up a lot of time in your life with your 24-hour days. And you sleep in most of it, right? And so you have to pray for wisdom on how to handle each of your talents. So you listen and write.

31:03 And so that's so important. So when God began to say, I put you there because I want things to move, I want you to clean house, I was like, wow, not by yourself. I'm right there with you, okay? And number three, you want to pray for understanding. Ask God for clarity about what he has revealed. If it's a decision or action, seek his guidance on the next steps. And that's what I've been partnering with him as we clean house in our HOA. Like I've never, I've been on HOA, but not when it's so messed up like this. And then the people that's working with me, you know, they've been here before, but they never got this far. So it's all new to them. And I'm going in, I'm going in like a bull in a china house because I'm just want everything to happen quick and fast in a hurry.

31:51 The Lord just said, you know, it's not gonna happen. So you need to slow down and just work it slow because God knows the plan. Remember, understanding. Don't go in there because I like things done quick and fast. You know you're wrong. You know, as a retired police officer, you know, sitting on cases is not my thing. You did it wrong. Let's go get them. But then I learned with that job, just sit back. Most of the time, the case become easy because people actually begin to incriminate themselves. They create the case for you. And so it makes it easier when you just let God do the work. And so remember, action steps. Prepare your heart. Listen and write and pray for understanding. I want to pray for you.

32:33 Father God, in the name of Jesus, I thank you for revealing your truth and wisdom. Help me to be attentive to your voice and be open to what you want to share. Give me discernment to recognize your revelation and the courage to act on them. Thank you for trusting me with what is in your heart. The challenge for the week is, each night this week, ask God to reveal something specific to you. It could be about your purpose, a decision, or a deep understanding of his word. Journal everything you sense and revisit your notes at the end of the week to reflect on his faithfulness. This is such a faith exercise because many times people say, I don't think God spoke to me. I didn't hear his voice.

33:18 But when you do this exercise, you will see that he is actively present. In the room, guiding and directing every step that you take.
