0:53 Hello, and welcome back to the Diary of Black Women podcast. I'm your host, Connie Morris, and we're going to continue our faith on the go today with the title is Purpose, The Mind of Purpose. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. That is why this space was created, for those quiet moments, your work days, your commutes, and those in-between places where your spirit just needs to be refilled or re-energized. Faith on the go is the times when you're fighting battles not yet won, but already finished in Christ. It's for the ones who keep believing, keep pressing, and keep walking, even when the road gets long and narrow. So wherever you are today, settle in and let the word of God strengthen your faith while you are on.

1:43 Goal. We're going to get started with our episode. Like I said, it's up day seven, a mind of purpose. Focus on the mission. I love that. This key scripture for today is John 4, 34. My food, said Jesus, is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. The purpose fueled every breath Jesus took. While others sought success, he sought significance. While the crowd chased miracles, he stayed on mission, and after meeting the Samaritan women at the well, the disciples urged him to eat. But Jesus replied, My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

2:29 In other words, my nourishment is obedience. Fulfilling his father's purpose satisfied him more than bread could ever. After feeding the 5,000, the people wanted to crown him king, but Jesus withdrew to the mountains alone. John 6.15 He refused earthly titles because he was anchored in heavenly purpose. When people tried to persuade him to avoid the cross, Jesus rebuked him, not in anger, but to remind him, You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns. Matthew 16, 23.

3:09 Jesus was not driven by opportunity, but by assignment. Every step, every miracle, every word spoken was guided by eternal intention. Now, don't we want that? Don't we want this type. Perseverance. And this comes with having the mind of Christ. I loved it when he says, you don't have in mind the concerns of God. So it shows us that to have the mind of Christ, it has to be a focus on what concerns God. It continues to say, but merely human concerns. And we see that is the focus of a worldly mind.

3:49 Worldly mind, human concerns, mind of Christ, concerns of God. To have the mind of Christ is to think with purpose, not pressure. The world often confuses busyness with purpose, but Jesus lived by rhythm, not rush. He knew that distraction dilutes destiny. Purpose gives your thought direction, your heart motivation, and your life meaning. It keeps you steady when others stray, and peaceful when progress feels slow. The key to living with purpose is remembering you were sent. You are on assignment. He sends you, John 20, 21. Your gifts, your story, your journey are all part of a greater plan.

4:35 John 17 tells us what Jesus said. It says, I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. Let's sit here and pause on this for a moment here. There's two things that really catch my eye, was one, that we are on a mission. We are on assignment. We are on purpose. And so we're not just here living our life kind of willy-nilly. We really have to begin to get this mind of Christ so that we can live a life on purpose, destined for a greater plan. And then when Jesus was done with his work, he says, Lord, I Father, I glorify you on earth, having accomplished the work you have gave me to do.

5:19 So right away, we knew he was on mission from when he was a baby all the way until his death and his resurrection. He was still on mission. How would we live differently if we lived a life on mission? Distraction are destiny thieves. They come disguised as busyness, drama, or even good opportunities that aren't God opportunities. Jesus teaches us that the purpose requires clarity, courage, and commitment. He knew when to say yes and when to walk away. He didn't examine himself to everyone. He didn't explain himself to everyone. He kept moving in obedience. So ask yourself, has God called you to focus?

6:01 What has God called you to focus in on this season? What distractions keep pulling you away from it? Am I nourishing myself with purpose or feeding on comparison? You were created with intention. And when you live from purpose, peace follows. So let's go to our favorite part, walking it out like Jesus. How do we do that? Walking with this mind on purpose. I have friends that say, Connie, you need to like relax and do ABC. Many of my friends, they're getting their social security checks and I'm still trying to change the world. But that's what he put in me, right?

6:41 He didn't put in me to stop, to slow down. And I always, even when I first became a Christian, I always want to be like Caleb. Caleb, Joshua is, I like being Joshua. You know, Joshua did some great things after Moses' death. But then his partner, Caleb, he's a quiet partner. You don't hear a lot about him. But when they came back with the grapes and that they saw giants bigger than them and they didn't want to go pursue God's promise, Caleb was quiet. Caleb said, we're able to do this. But when it was all said and done, Caleb was the one that says, give me my mountain. Because he was like, I'm done hanging out with these people. Kept me in my dilemma for so long, 40 years in my dilemma.

7:26 Caleb was over 80 years old when he got what God has promised him. And he was well able. And it's like, you always hear the story of Paul I know, Jesus I know. I bet you the enemy knew who Caleb was because Caleb was coming for his. And so I love that about that Bible character, Caleb, because he never stopped. He was always going. And then when he got his mom, you hear nothing else about it. He was done. He didn't die. He was living in his blessings. And so how do we do that? How do we have the mind of Christ, have mind of purpose? Caleb never forgot. That God promised him that land. And he said, give me my land.

8:07 And that's what we can say, give me my land. So how do we get to that attitude? Number one, seek the Father's will daily. Start your morning and ask, what is my assignment today, Lord? What is my assignment today? Psalms 143.8. Lord, what would you have me to do today? Lord, surprise me today. And let your first words out your mouth, be to the Father in the morning, right? Not talking about your achy body or achy this or I'm so mad it's Monday. It's about how you are going to please the Father. How are you going to glorify Him today? Number two, say no without guilt. Jesus often withdrew to pray even when needs surround Him, Luke 5, 16, saying yes to destiny.

8:58 How do you say no without guilt. Practice it. No. What does no mean? It still means no. And people will look at you, especially if you're a people pleaser and you always want to be everywhere with everybody and you don't have time for Jesus. That's going to get old after a while. Then you're going to resent. What I'm looking for is resent. You're going to resent it. So say no without guilt. Saying no to distraction means saying yes to destiny. Number three, stay present when you're planted. Jesus didn't rush to the cross. He finished every step in his time, John 2, 4. Trust God's pacing. And I know if you're like me, we're ready to get it done right now like yesterday.

9:41 And I remember my boss says, Connie, baby steps. I said, I don't know how to take baby steps. And I think that's what caused a lot of excitement or anxiety in me because I need it done like yesterday, right? I need you to answer my prayer like yesterday, Lord. But when you learn how to stay present where you're planted and you can become trusting in God's pacing, just like Jesus did. Remember, Jesus did not rush to the cross. He didn't go to the cross at 16 or 17 or 18. He went to the cross, I believe, when he was like 30, 30 or 33. He went to the cross at the perfect time and he was supposed to go when he was in a total adult. And knowing what he was supposed to do. Number four, pleasure success by faithfulness.

10:24 God calls you to be fruitful, not famous. Purpose is obedience, not applause. Matthew 25, 21. That's a hard bite for some people, right? God calls you to be fruitful, not famous. What does that mean? He will make you famous. We know that after Jesus left the temptations of the devil, the Lord said his name was famous throughout the land. And so there's a way to have a holy famous or a worldly famous. I'd rather have the holy famous. It seems like that lasts longer, right? God wants you fruitful, develop fruit. Why? Because people need to eat. They need some of that fruit in their life.

11:05 They're starving out here. Spiritual starvation is real. And so God wants us to not be measured success by the world standards, but measured by the fruit, measured by your obedience, Measure by how you're following. Doing what God's called you to do. What is your assignment? If you don't know, you need to ask. You need to ask, what is your assignment? And then most important for that one, I said it at number three, was trusting his pacing. Because he will make you famous. He will make you famous. But famous is in the spiritual, right? You want to go and fight some devils. They said, Paul, I know. Connie, I know, right? You want to be known in the spirit realm.

11:48 That way, in the natural realm, guess what? Nobody's messing with you. You have peace. Is peace good for famous people? No. Famous people, they got to do everything with security guards. Because there's some people out there who don't want you famous or too clingy or groupie-like and always want to touch you and know all about you. Famous doesn't give you privacy, right? Let's go to number five. Finish strong. Like Jesus, determined to complete what you started. John 17, 4. Don't just begin the mission. Fulfill it. The Bible tells us to count the cost. Count the cost to be the boss. count the cost, to know what it's going to take me to get from A to B to C to D to finish this race.

12:36 And you want to finish it strong. Paul is one of the Bible characters. In the Bible, he finished strong. He said, I fought the good fight. He know he fought the good fight. He can say that. I fought the good fight. And so we all should be like Paul, fight the good fight, but more like Jesus, the mind of Christ, where he finished everything that God has sent him to do. Let's pray. Father, thank you for showing me purpose through Jesus. Teach me to live with purpose and intentionality. Quiet the noise that tries to pull me off course. Remind me that I was created for more than comfort. I was created for calling.

13:18 Help me to walk each day with divine direction, trusting you are leading me towards the fulfillment of, of fruitfulness. In Jesus' name, amen. I decree I have the mind of Christ. My heart is focused. My spirit is steady. My life is aligned with purpose. I am not distracted by noise or delayed by doubt. Every step I take brings glory to the one who sent me. Thinking about this, I'll leave you with this. What's one thing God has asked you to focus on this season? And what distractions do you need to lay aside to fulfill your purpose in this season. 14:01 I pray this word energizes you and reminds you of God's promise. Isaiah 55 11 says, so my word will be that goes forth out of my mouth. It should not return to me void, but it should accomplish what I please, and it should prosper in a thing which I sent, where I sent it. Today, we're sending it out for purpose. We want a mind of purpose. We want to align our will with God's will so that we can have the mind of Christ and not just be famous in the natural, but be famous in the spiritual realm. Where devils flee, they don't just flee, they scream and flee.

14:42 They run way away from you because you have put Jesus first. And be confident in this, he who began a good work in you to carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. That's Philippians 1.6. So keep believing, keep walking, keep trusting because God will finish what he has started in you. Until we meet again on our next episode, bye-bye.
