0:53 Hello, and welcome back to the Diary of a Black Woman podcast. I'm your host, Connie Morris, and this is where faith meets real world and truth meets transformation. And today's episode is one we've all lived through. Episode two, when jealousy rises. You know, jealousy is one of those emotions that sneaks in quietly. However, when it appears, it can shift an entire atmosphere. It can turn allies into critics and friends into observers who no longer clap when you win. But here's what I've learned. When jealousy rises, it's usually because your assignment has been recognized, even by those who don't understand it.

1:41 And I want to just pause here. And I want you to think about when you begin to shift your focus. Maybe you came in and you had an entry-level position, but yet secretly you've been studying and you've been studying for the next level. No one knows that. Just only you, yourself, and I, maybe a few friends who you don't work with, I'm going to get that next position because I know somebody's getting ready to retire and that position is going to be open. So I'm prepping for that position. And even though they don't know that you're doing that, something starts to happen in the room. They don't understand what's going on with you, but they notice that you are different. You have changed.

2:22 You are not the same person that started here three months ago, two months ago, right? They noticed that you are up to something and it's God on you that makes the devil take notice. So let's go to 1 Samuel 18. Saul's jealousy of David took root right after David's greatest victory. David has just defeated Goliath and people saying Saul has slain his thousands and David his thousands. And from that day forward, Scripture says, Saul kept the jealous eye. On David. So secretly, Paul was jealous of David. We saw that, but what is it he kept a jealous eye?

3:05 He wanted to find out what was really going on with this David. Is he after my job? Why is everybody praising him when everybody was praising me? You ever had that happen in the office? Think about that. Jealousy didn't rise when David was unknown. It rose when his obedience made him visible. You ever felt like you've been invisible and you've been chilling like nobody knows you, you know, the song, but yet now it seems like a spotlight is on you. Everybody's watching you. If you drop something, they're like, oh, just drop something or you do something. They're watching you with that jealous eye trying to catch you slipping.

3:46 But let me tell you, Some people don't mind you being gifted as long as you stay silent. They celebrate you as long as your light doesn't outshine theirs. But the moment you step into the fullness of what God called you to be, insecure hearts start comparing instead of connecting. It becomes that silent friction in the room. You know, it's just like the tone, even the tone of that person changes. So it's never nice. It's always like very, like a mean spirited, like you're going to do this, you're going to do that. Not how you doing, it used to be hello, but now it's shifted.

4:28 We're not moved by what we see, right? It says that's the moment you step into the fullness that God has called you to be. That's when you know that you're on the right path. Instinct your hearts start comparing instead of connecting. Thank you, Father. It says, here's the truth. Jealousy is not really about you. It's a reflection of someone else's fear of your success. Exposes what they have done with their own calling. So don't internalize their issues. Don't shrink. Don't apologize for the way God is blessing you. Let's talk about the real world talk here. I've been in rooms where I felt that unspoken tension, where smiles hid discomfort, and favor made people whisper instead of support.

5:13 And the Lord told me, Connie, jealousy doesn't stop purpose. It just proves it. When jealousy rises, it reveals that your light has reached new visibility. The enemy doesn't attack what is irrelevant. He attacks what's impactful. So know that you are rising. When jealousy rise, know that you are on your way up. Let's pray. It says, Lord, teach me to respond to jealousy with grace and not greed. Help me to stand focused on purpose, not people. When others misunderstand my favor, remind me that you are my vindicator.

5:53 Give me the strength to love even when I'm envied, to stand even when I'm whispered about, and to keep shining with our apology. In Jesus' name, I pray. Let's do this decree. I decree that I refuse to be distracted by jealousy. I am not in competition. I am on assignment. My heart is not a threat. My light is not a threat. It's evidence of God's presence in my life. I'm chosen and I will be moving forward. That's a statement. I am chosen and I will be moving forward. So next time jealousy rises, smile, not because it feels good, but because it confirms that heaven just made your name known.

6:39 Heaven just made your name known. Let jealousy be your reminder that God's favor always attracts attention, both positive and negative, but it's still favor. Amen.
